Forums - Gaming - Why did Nintendo insist on getting the console out so fast?

I think it's launching at the best date that isn't near the holidays. They have almost exactly 1 high quality exclusive (except Arms? I dont think it'll do that good) releasing each month until E3, where we will see dozens of more games for the rest of the year and beyond.

WHAT?!?!?!?

I think ARMS looks like a lot of fun.

Meh. A lot of people are comparing it to Splatoon (Nintendo's take on X genre; original new IP; innovative; blah blah), but I don't see the appeal at all.

As soon as I saw Splatoon, I knew I would love it. The ink + swimming mechanics are simply beautiful level design. Arms just looks like a more complicated Wii Boxing game.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

When you see thé only interesting game of the launch Line up is à game you dont need thé Switch to play to, you understand they should have delayed thé launch to novembre to get à good Line up instead of an empty Line up of Switch exclusives

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

The real question here is why are there so many Nintendo Switch topics flooding General Gaming instead of Nintendo Discussion. Personally speaking, I'm still astonished at how bad a taste the 'reveal' has left for me, and would rather just pretend it never happened.

Because they need profits and launching it later won't help with the Wii U being dead

Well, actually I think that for most of its target it won't matter. Many Nintendo hardcore fans will buy at launch, even if it's for Zelda alone. 2 months later the general public, that doesn't buy at launch, will have MK8, and in summer Splatoon 2. The initial shipment is 2M worldwide for all March, I think Nintendo expects to build the momentum progressively instead of selling a lot and launch and then to have nothing for the rest of the year...

I mean, let's say, launch mid summer. The presentation heavily focused on hardware, 2 weeks before E3, to make sure that people know more is coming. An excellent E3 shortly before launch, with Spla2n, MK8D, Zelda, Arms, and a substantial list of third parties for launch. I just don't see the purpose of getting in early with uncertain reception when so much more could be done just a few months later.

Summer would be the worst time to launch. It is when video game sales are at their lowest because people in the U.S and Europe are busy with vacations/spending time outside. Also it changes very little besides the perception of hardcore gamers. Eitherway you get to play Splatoon 2 and MK8D come summer, except your scenario we'd have to wait to play Zelda. How exactly is that better?

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the SNES launch August 23rd in the the US?
