Forums - Nintendo - There is no reason to act like Nintendo will never cut switch price!

I'm expecting a price cut in July or August.

Around the Network

There was only one price drop for Wii U. In 5 years, only one drop. I doubt we're seeing a price drop until 2020. Maybe 2021.

Should have cut the price already, the price gives it negative attention.

It looks like they're trying to rip off the early adopters and hardcore fans. They'll all buy it no matter what but if you want to teach Nintendo a lesson don't pay €320-350 and wait for the inevitable price cut to a fairer price.

They'll only cut it if it doesn't sell well at $299 and even then they may not. I'll remind you that the Wii U deluxe only dropped $50 in the four years it was on the market.

I mentioned that...

Apropros, what do you remind me? haha

Firstly, that happened in 2013, secondly it wasn't a real price cut...

They phased out basic model ( since people were preferring the black wii u with more capacity ), and premium model's pricre fell to the basic mode price...

Wii u had the gamepad which costed 89$ to manufacture, 100$ the rest of the console! ;)  Ι Just hope joy cons and the grip aren't so costly...

Aren't you the guy who bought a new TV next to a new PS4Pro?

That's the problem though,  if it sells well at $299 they won't drop the price, and if it doesn't they still might not drop the price because of how expensive it is to make.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

We are not reminding you. We are just mentioning why we are skeptical. Just because you mentioned an oppising argument on the op doesn't mean people can't still use it when making their point.

Yeah you're right but after wii u and 3DS to a less extend ( 3d effect was expensive too ) Nintendo might have provided for the future to be able to cut the price bloodlessly.

It depends. If they launch a new 3DS next year (and I think it's more and more possible), then they can let the Switch die at this price like the Wii U and say things like "people didn't get the concept, that's too bad", and then launch a new console or focus entirely on the handheld.

If they don't launch any new handheld and focus almost their whole future on the Switch, then they will make a price cut after the first year because they won't be able to manage a really low level of sales. But the other consoles drop in price regularly too, so that will maybe be too late.
