Each time I read again the OP, I can smell the fail emanated by the Switch. NS is already dead, it just doesn't know it is, so it feels fine anyway.

Yeah, at this price I don't think Switch will do well. I'm getting a serious Wii U vibe from the excessive price and small amount of games. |
Lmao get a load of this clown

I remember stating in a post that Nintendo priced the Switch at 300$ because their market data was telling them the console would be in high demand and they wanted to avoid a Wii-like situation with the console being sold out for months and priced too low to maximise profits. I was booed off the stage lol! It was obvious the Switch would be a success from the start, every reliable indicator pointed to it: The resources were there, the strategy was there, it was a perfect design for an integrated hardware/software company, it adhered to the prerequisites stated by economist like Clayton Christensen, it targeted a broader audience... but when I cited books or people who know about this stuff, people just called me arrogant (even though I was just citing clever people). After that January presentation, everything was doom and gloom. |
I am quite proud of myself. Predicted its success before launch.
This thread is one of the many great examples of hardcore gamers being out of touch with reality. It's been this way with Nintendo consoles since at least the GameCube days. I remember posting in forums in 2005, when the Wiimote was revealed, how the Wii would sell crazy good and people laughed at that prediction. That was the reason I searched for a website that would track console sales and that eventually lead me to this site in 2007 (I created my account right after RolStoppable, btw.)
Whenever Nintendo reveals a console with huge potential (DS, Wii, Switch, Switch 2), the internet screams doom and gloom. Whenever Nintendo reveals a strange console that will struggle (Wii U, 3DS) the internet goes "oh, this might actually sell well".

Haha, I remember you being pretty doomy and gloomy about Nintendo for quite some time.

I was doomy and gloomy about pretty much everything in life during that time, I was still recovering from a period of pretty severe depression and had adopted the mindset that "if I always assume the worst, at least I'll never be disappointed".
Little they knew that time was the closest they would get to "Nintendo abandoning hardware business and going full 3rd party" dream.
Switch era was a brute awake for these guys, now milking whatever negative perspective they can find in the hopes that Nintendo is somewhat loosing the steam.
Keep it up guys! someday, somehow

Has anyone else noticed as the "Nintendo will go 3rd party soon" narrative died they transitioned into "Nintendo is evil"? There's always been claims of Nintendo being evil, but as it became more and more apparrent that Switch was here to stay that narrative is what a lot of them leaned into more and more.

Many if not most negative opinions including the OT came from hardcore Nintendo fans. They would doom and gloom a successor when the precedessor fails, and hype up a successor when the predecessor succeeds. It was common opinion that the Wii U would succeed and the Switch would fail.
