ps4 controllers have gyroscopes.

That doesn't matter, apparently. The only thing that does is the name on the box.

Doesn't matter anyway. I had no idea they were attempting to charge for online gameplay. There's no point in discussing controls when they'll attempting a paywall whilist trying to win gamers back. It's a moot point.

Aren't gamers already used to paying for online services and constantly saying Nintendo needs to get with the times?

Gamers need a reason to come back to them though. Charging the same price for a weaker console and a paywall? I'm being honest here... I'm really, really depressed right now. Total kick to the nuts for me : (

Indeed, I really wished Nintendo would drop away from motion controls, but they are still trying to push this feature as much as possible :/

I guess it's not as rough for me because I was kind of expecting it. I don't see how anyone would have expected Nintendo to offer XBL/PSN level of service without XBL/PSN level of cost. Dedicated servers and free games don't pay for themselves.

Hopefully Nintendo can give gamers that reason to come back soon, but I was hoping it would have happened tonight.

There's nothing wrong for them to bring basically all of their pedigree from the last 20 years into a single unifying console.

I think it's all good. Gives options to the players and developers.

A Wii 2 would appeal nicely to the casual market. It seems different enough not to be confused imo. Now only a steady stream of quality games will allow it to succeed, and since it will get the support the 3ds had at the very least, that will be enough for it to not bomb.

Yes, but it was shortsided. The reason Nintendo is in the mess it's in is because they completely abandoned core gamers by taking all their core IP and using waggle/motion controls. It worked for awhile becasue casuals were eating it up but when they left, Nintendo was left searching for someone to by their stuff... no one did.

I think what most people thought was that they'd learned their lesson. Cater to core gamers first... casuals last.

But the casual gamers are the core gamers, this is the vast majority of the audience on, say, Playstation 4. This is an audience Nintendo managed to go beyond with Wii. Wii was also a very good console for the core Nintendo audience. Problems started with the gimmicky Wii U, that was made with the game industry mantra in mind by being a "better" console.

Ei Kiinasti.

Eikä Japanisti.

Vaan pannaan jalalla koreasti.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

The Wii U's problems were not the inclusion of motion controls. It would have sold far, far better if it had truly doubled down on the wiimote concept and been called the 'wii 2' or 'super wii.'
