I barely used my amiibo but i collected some for uhm some cute purposes... but the features is not well intigrated to the wii u so I am thinking that they will probably not push amiibo to the switch

Yes, Nintendo already confirmed it themselves a long time ago...this is old news actually.

I would like Nintendo to retire them but they make a ton of money so I guess we're stuck with them.

Yeah the right joycon has the NFC device in it so Amiibo will be support at least out of the gate. (Comes from a breakdown of the Switch's patents.)

I see many people complain about amiibo, but the fact is Nintendo are doing an excellent job keeping them optional in games. I have played Skylanders, Disney Infinity and Lego Dimensions and can say from experience that those games are massive cash cows, literally forcing you to buy the figures to play the games. Nintendo, on the other hand have made amiibo virtually optional in the games that use them. It is a vary narrow path to walk trying to keep the people who buy amiibo happy while not impacting people who want nothing to do with them.

The funny thing to me is, many gamers buy very expensive collectable figures that have no other purpose than to adorn a shelf. I'm talking over $100 for some of them. amiibo are $12 a pop and represent some of the most iconic characters in the history of video games.
