To a native speaker. It might just be me, but it might be less cost-effective to localize to a language without close relatives in proximity, relative to another which has close relatives in proximity. Compare translating to Finnish alongside Swedish, Danish, and Norwegian.

I don't think that would be an issue, as you still need professional translators to translate the same source material.

But, yeah, there are roughly 30 million(?) speakers of finno-ugric languages, opposed to 500 million speakers of germanic languages.

That's the issue with localizing to Europe, I guess. Unlike the Americas where you could localize to American, Spanish, Portuguese, and French and be done witrh it.

Zelda games usually only get translated to English, Spanish, French and German if I'm right. Maybe I'm forgetting one, but that's beside the point. Meanwhile, Mario games are translated to every language under the sun and there's never a problem. If there's really a localisation problem then Nintendo needs to get their sh*t together because they could have known for years now that this game would have... wait for it... text.

tak13, that 2 milllion units is for this quarter and, if it launches in March 17th as some rumors suggest, that means only two weeks. Selling two miilion consoles in two weeks is a very good number.

Would be really weird. I was working for the european marketing for Switch and each and every single piece we got from Ninty explicitly said "March 2017". My work there is done since some days ago, but I didn't hear one single word about a later release in europe. I won't say it's impossible though, as us freelancers in marketing get to know everything as the very last people of all, but I highly doubt it.

Without revealing anything, how satisfied are you with Switch marketing? Is it good?

You forgot Italian.

Please excuse my bad English.

I think the Wii U came out 1 or 2 weeks after NA. I can see the same thing happening.

Also can that "2million thing" get changed?

Pocky Lover Boy!

No, I don't see this happening, but Nintendo being Nintendo.. :p

It can certainly happen. Though I would add that since the Switch is probably region free, I can already picture a massive exportation of Switches to Europe as well.

It would be a scalpers wet dream.

As I mentioned earlier, was a rumour going around CES this year that Zelda isn't ready and they'll be delaying the launch until May to allow for a launch with the game.

I have pointed that out in the op!

Nevertheless, it's not that great if switch is really 3DS successor too...

If so, it should be more than 3m...

Nope, not very likely as the teaser trailer was translated/subtitled/localised and also said "coming March" for us Europeans. So if it would come more than a month later it would have been changed. This could have changed since then but I don't find that likely either.

Of course it could. Whether it does is an entirely different matter, and I don't think it does.

Right.  The questions in some of these thread titles and polls.....
