great OP lol.
They are in a tough position, we will most certainly see the next major installment of Halo at E3 with Forza 7 alongside Project Scorpio and its compatible VR headsets. and that by itself might be enough to pull off an E3, certainly more than they had the last E3. though the issue here is not E3, but the long term future for MS and their first and second party. has the failure on these projects just been bad luck? has it been an issue with MS? or has it been the devs fault? things need to be analyzed and the root of these problems should be fond and resolved. in the case of Fable legends/lionhead and Phantum Dust, from what we know it was certainly MS's severe mismanegment that laid to the failures. but in this case, who is it really to blame? Platinum are a well established dev, with a good track recored, and ability to pump out quality new IP regurarly, but how did this project fail? i personally fele though as if they overpromised what they can make, and the scope of the game to MS, and ended up taking to much time and money, and didnt have the results, thus getting canned. |
I tried. This site is shit lol. It looked good a second ago, and it looks normal in preview :/

i agree. Halo, Forza and Gears wont be able to sustain them forever. of course they can always sign new deals with second party publishers to make new games. but if they do, they need to find the root of the problems they had that has made them have so many failures and very little successes. (outside of forza, gears and halo). |
That's the issue, this is already their second PR hell in 2 years with Tomb Raider (Lionhead was first party, right?). They already have a not so good position on the market, and are starting to get a bad reputation on their project and PR management.
Why would any non-first party developer want to make a deal with MS, without a huge amount of money? For a developer the PS4 is a pretty sure bet and the Switch can be an interesting one... The One is the "lots of risks, almost no reward" bet...
Not even surprised. MS is trying their hardest to release a stronger console but has stopped focusing on games. Hiring all these studios for one offs is not working.
Platnum needs to go back to their ninja turtles games if they cant make a good AAA game.
I just found this week old video talking about how Gamespot and Unlocked mention how Scalebound was canceled in their podcasts and no one was talking about it. Not a lot of people in the comment section saw it coming, including the guy doing the video.

That's like getting a Wii U to play Breath of the Wild
“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”
