I think Sony as long as they don't decide to put the price up, should be fine to beating or keeping the same gap in 2017.
By the time Scorpio comes out sony might already have a 500k gap, and then with price drops they can combat a new console launch.

Also once it launches it ll be PS4 1080p, XB1s 900p, PS4pro 1800p (not native 2160p (4k)).
Its before the scorpio launch, so they have the best looking version of the game on playstation... so it makes sense to give them marketing.
With The Switch coming out I'd have to say no.
