Now imagine this thing with a 2Gh Nvidia X1 in it. It would be super portable and super powerful.

I disagree, when it comes to the NES mini the cool thing about it is being able to use it with a HDTV without input lag and also still having the original NES shaped controller. This device offers the ability to play games, but has altered the controls to the point where some games would be effectively unplayable with this layout, it's not just about looking like a Game Boy it must in some way be functional, otherwise why even bother putting a battery in it, just make a gameboy shaped box for hipsters to hold in cafes and look RETRO. |
For youuu. All buyers of mini would have bought it regardless if it had or didn't have HD/input lag. Nostalgia is the selling point of things like this.

And neither does mimi but people still want it. Collections has all the defining/popular games of the Genesis, meaning, if Sega was to due a genesis mini they would just reuse those games. |
My point is that this does nothing the cheaper GBASP dont already do. If it played Game Gear, Neo Geo Pocket and Atari Lynx games as well, then fair enough...but this thing is just a more expensive and less portable system.

That can be said about any retro release: Sega genesis re-release - Why just not get Ultimate collections?, NES Mini - Virtual Console? Point is to be classic/nostalgic, not so much the games |
Not really, it also depends on the emulation. Most of the time the emulation feels a little "off", which is why I usually prefer original hardware. Then again, NES on HDTV can be a pain, so Wii U/NES Mini emulation is much better option here.

Your right, but your missing point of this:
ITS
FOR
THE
NOSTALGIA
FACTOR.
Not so much for the tech or what can be played on it. For example Red Blue and Yellow Pokemons on VC. Wyh buy those we you can get the much better Upates? Nostalgia. Retro things like this are for people who are old enough to understand it. Its the Nostalgia factor, not tech, or what you can or cant play on it.

Not quite. I'm planning on buying the NES Mini for the games on it I have not played (also the NES CC is cool). And I have friends that are planning to buy one for their kids because of the number of good games on it.
If Sega was to rerelease Megadrive, these would be the games on it:

Seriously? Retro boy? They were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should.

No that is a 3rd party thing. SEGA has done a collection and as of now that is what I will base my assumptions, not what a a3rd party would choose. Every time Sega does a retro port to anywhere, it is always something that appeared in ultimate collections. Always. They never step outside of those boundaries. Hide n seek? Brain Switch? Mirror Mirror?
