Since Teeqoz is another user like myself advocating for the copy+paste article thread rule to be enforced, I would ask if we can look at the rule again, to see if it can be regulated once more.

I think the rule shouldnt exist.

Hey man, sorry if I misinterpretted your intentions, we don't always exactly go toe to toe so I guess I was a bit more inclined to see your comments in a critical light, but I shouldn't have become so hostile.

Anyways, I agree, we should review the rules about thread content.

Why not?

I think it should because we should be putting forth our own opinions along with the enws presented, rather than treating the site like an every day instant messenger site.

I know this works against your desire to just copy+paste and calling it a day, but some of us want that rule to be enforced.

It's all good. I was just wondering on why the call to action now, but seeing as it's being called for now, it seemed like a good time to take Ryuu's advice and bring it up in this thread.

Yep we are discussing it and ultimately I agree that it should start being enforced more heavily, I believe there's certain legality issues? with certain copy and pasting plus out of respect for the original article writer we shouldn't really be copying the entire thing.

Admittedly in the past I have broken that rule for every single one of my threads ( ) because it was rarely enforced (At least in my situation) so I feel like we'll need to make it clear that the rule exist and it will start getting enforced as it hasn't really been enforced that much in the past.

Ideally people should paste specific sections of the article that pertain to the subject of their thread and provide an opinion however the opinion piece isn't absolutely necessary

Putting out a main snippet from the article as well as your own words on the subbject should be enough, as well as linking the article, but not copying the whole thing entirely.

I've been wanting to make a post on a recent interview from PCgamer with Sega, but if I copied the entire thing, it would end up filling a whole page due to the size of the interview

Well because by pasting an article it easier for the forum viewers so they dont have to visit an external site and its a way to have whats being discussed while people can have the chance to share their opinions by replying to it.

It's a form of plagarism, so the rule makes sense. Beyond that, I'm one of the people who usually enforces it, so I'll be stepping it up, now!

As for the Rules, in general, we're currently discussing what we can do to change/tidy/tighten things up. We'll update as we reach decisions.

How come? As long as you're not saying you wrote it and acknowledge that its from an article with a link i dont see how it can be plagarism.

Just make sure it doesn't go the other way and people just post articles without any context at all. It should be a rule to have the important content within the thread without being forced to click on a link.

If you cannot get context for the thread within the opening post without clicking on a link or watching a video it should be locked. We already had a good amount of bait or spin threads that lead to confusion and false accusations just because the context for the thread title was hidden within the linked article and not the thread.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Yeah, this will be important information to know, especially if I take over the PS thread, as I want to know what I'm allowed to do when posting news, and what I'm not.
