In general, I would say I'm against any ad-hominem attacks. That is trying to argue by attacking the user instead of an idea. I.e. your argument is wrong because you're stupid/biased/etc.
I skimmed through the FF7 thread, and I honestly don't see that in regards to your posts. The closest I think is someone saying "you must be young if you don't remember..." or something like that, but I don't read that as implying you're biased.
If there's something in that thread I missed (it's 20 pages long so it's not like I read every particular word) that you think did cross a line, you can PM me with a link to the exact page it's on.
As for people accusing you of posting non-factual information... well that depends... were you posting non-factual information? If that's true then I think it's entirely justified for someone to call you out on it. If they added a personal attack on top of that (i.e. you posted untrue things because you're biased) then that may be a problem. Again though, I'd kind of need to see what exactly is being said, so if you want to PM me exactly what you mean, then feel free.

It's difficult to talk about it because I don't want to raise any red flags and I want to get a sense of how the team thought about the concept in general. In the FFVII thread (thanks for skimming through), there are a few posts that highlight what I mean, I'll PM you so I don't derail my question you can let the team know what I mean if they want to pitch in.
As for the person who accused me of posting non-factual information, it was a baseless attack and I was not posting non-factual information. However, I think that as you grow in the position, you'll understand that back-seat moderating is garbage because it isn't constructive. Like mentioned earlier, people need to remember to report if they have an issue instead of accusing someone when it's not their role, because their judgement of a user is most likely false. A team of mods leaning over a question is much more reliable than one individual and his or her impulses. I'll write to you in PM, and I invite anyone mod, including you, to pitch in if they want to.

Well... I definitely did see some posts that were kind of borderline there, but not ones that were directed at you. I don't know if that's what you mean.
I'm not going to talk about that particular thread, but I think in general there are some borderline comments that may be moderated if someone reported them, but not if they go unreported.
I can understand why that might seem off to some people (after all breaking the rules is breaking the rules) but there is a risk of overmoderating, and I don't think people want to feel like mods are looking over their shoulders at every post just itching to drop the ban hammer. So... looking the other way on some really minor infractions may be better to the community as a whole, particularly when nobody in the thread seems to object. Also, it's sometimes hard to know when some users are being playful or legit insulting each other.
So, just bear that in mind. I'm not saying report everyone that rubs you the wrong way, but if you feel that there's a legitimate issue bring it to our attention (which you're doing). It might be one of those gray area cases (for me at least, don't want to speak for anyone else) where if we don't know that it's bothering someone we may choose to look away.
