* Before you read this, please note that I'm not riled up even though my post may sound so. *

I've requested a permaban from 4 different moderators and none of them have been able to help. I know you advise people to don't log in and just forget about the account but I guess I lack any kind of self-discipline because I'm not able to do that. Therefore, I ask again if you'd be kind enough to kick my hyper sensitive butt away from here so I can bother other people with my constant bitching.

If you need a reason, doesn't GDPR kinda require that you delete European accounts by request? Alternatively, I could offer some foul language or call COKTOE a giant dickhead (again).

I've enjoyed my time here and I think that the community still has some strengths and a solid mod team. I'll continue to see many of you on PS4, Steam, and soon Switch.

With that, I wish you all peace, love and hairy balls.

Just stealing the 5000th post spot.

...to avoid getting banned for inactivity, I may have to resort to comments that are of a lower overall quality and or beneath my moral standards.

The original reason to not perform any user-requested bans anymore - be it temporary or permanent ones - was that it potentially makes moderation histories messy over time and therefore hard to go through for moderators when determining the ban length for an actual offense later on. At the time of the decision the mod team did not have the ability to overwrite or delete entries in a user's moderation history. But they do have that ability now, so the only thing that is holding back user-requested bans now is a mod team that sticks to a decision based on principle instead of thinking over the pros and cons with the currently available tools in mind.

Ok. Thanks.

So it's either GDPR or foul language?

Imho stop pussyfooting about and just do it

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

I hate to see people go. And of course coming from me, you probably don't believe it but I mean that non sarcastically. I'd rather argue you stay and enjoy the upcoming releases of new hardware. Ultimately it is up to you.

If you're already set then I say goodbye and best of luck.

I doubt either one of these two options will lead to success. Better to just

@CGI-Quality

and have this problem discussed in public. You'll get your requested permaban, you can request via e-mail that your account gets unbanned again in which case CGI-Quality unbans it and deletes the permaban entry from your moderation history. Whether your account gets only permabanned, or permabanned and unlocked again, it's not much work to process for the mod team.

It's definitely a lot less work than having to deal with a user that wants to get permabanned and has to go to lengths to accomplish it. With the example of foul language, you'd have to do it more than a few times to get the boot for good and that means quite a lot of work for the mod team. Looking at reports, reading posts, checking your moderation history, discussing your ban length and maybe even spending time to talk with you to get you back on the right path.

It does indeed sound like a hassle.

CGI is looking into it.

Edit: Thanks that works better then I'd hoped.

It really took you guys almost 3 days to decide banning CaptainExplotion was appropriate after his disgusting post. If anyone said what he said about Bernie Sanders or any other Democrat that person would have been banned almost immediately. Let me guess, there is no ideological diversity on the team right now, you're all left-wing nutjobs who actually agree with what he said but knew the optics would be bad if you did nothing
