Why wouldn't it be fine to constantly utter negative criticism?

Because constant criticism isn't constructive, credit is never given where credit is due in those instances.

Point out weak points and mistakes so they can be mitigated in the future.

The mod team will often point out where we have made a mistake... And will thus work out how to rectify said mistake and try and avoid said mistake in future.
With that in mind... We are all volunteers trying to make this place better, that should be respected with some tact.

It says you welcome criticism and then it says some criticism is unwelcome and even worse, some criticism is taken less serious if coming from specific users. That's a pretty bold open statement. I recently watched the South Park episode about "safe spaces" again, so this statement feels eerily familiar. The only criticism that should be unwelcome are lies and blank unfounded statements. Those things should be covered by the forum rules already, so feel free to ban people who do so. But selectively disregarding criticism based on where it comes from just feels wrong.

"There is a time and place for everything". - I.E. You do not walk up to someone and start pointing out their physical flaws do you? If you are rude or obnoxious in your approach, then of course said criticism will be discarded in full.
The fact of the matter is... It is literally impossible to please everyone, there is always someone in a crowd that will incessantly complain about every single little minutiae that comes across their life.

Also, for the record; I do think staff of a forum should be more steadfast than the average user. That's why they're mods, or at least that's why they should be chosen. They deal with filth every day. They're not defenseless little punching bags. They have all of the authority and power to deal with subjects who break forum rules.

People would complain about that.
A balance needs to be found... And ultimately that is a difficult task for some. - Plus everyone on the mod team has different personalities and levels of experience in dealing with various events that crop up from time to time.

vivster said:

It shouldn't even be possible for mods to take abuse, as they can just deflect it by dealing with it.

They can and they do. Why? Because not everything is as black and white as it may seem. (I.E. I don't think I should really delve into it.)

vivster said:

I'm just a stupid little forum user with no special powers or any kind of authority. You are an army of staff that stick together and have the power to remove me with a finger snap. What can I possibly do to hurt any of you?

Yeah. It's not like that. It's not about a singular individual hurting anyone. It's the general environment that just doesn't make it enjoyable anymore.
Again... The mods volunteer their time and effort to try and better the forum, not be the subject of condemnation and ridicule on a constant basis in various outlets (Including outside of this forum, I.E. Discord.)

You are now free to disregard this criticism.

At your command.

I'd like to give the mods props for opening the thread again and also wanted to thanks them for their efforts.

Now can we have the mobile version back again?

In regards to feedback and constructive criticism -

While I've long thought that the ruleset is bloated and overdue an overhaul, the basic guidelines should always be enforced to make the forum a better place for people to browse. These basic yet important guidelines are rules regarding quality of language, avatars and signatures, thread creation and quality and last but not least, NSFW content. When I was on the team I made sure to pop into threads and make small and useful edits to thread OP's, fix thread titles or fix broken posts that cause issues in threads, among other small QOL stuff.

Recently I've been reporting a bunch of this small scale stuff that's been ignored by the mod team until I go to one of the head mods directly. The same thing happened today when I reported someones avatar. Now, I've had assurances from one of the head mods that this basic stuff will be drilled into the mod team, more specifically the new recruits, so I'm fairly happy if we see improvements from the mod team to tackle these issues.

I'm bringing this up here and now to hopefully encourage both the community and the mod team to take note of the basic but important guidelines.

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Can we complain about mememods who do useless shit?

The entire point of this thread is to offer constructive criticism so that the mod team can be improved upon.

Post your concerns.

Or, because the majority of users have no idea when you say boiiii you actually mean blackops 4. It's not a bout moving past memes, it's about avoiding confusion so your thread's first page isn't just "I thought he meant god of war".
