Ah yes, my bad. The warning. It's easy to find it if one, as i did, looks at his most recent posts. I don't get the bolded part though. You mean that he reported himself?

Basically Kapi deliberately broke the rules and reported himself to get banned because we didn't grant him a permanent one at his request, which is something the mod team no longer does.

OK, so HE reported HIMSELF. I don't want to get mixed up in any drama I had no part in because of a slip of the tongue.

The warning isn't there (I looked. Must have been a direct message). And yeah he reported himself.

Kai made a comment. Got warned for it. That pissed him off. So he wanted to get Permabanned. VGC doesn't do "optional" permabanned. So they said no. So he went around trolling forums, and then reporting them so the mods knew.

He has been creating fake alts and spamming etc to try and get perma-ban.

The warning is still there.

Oh so we're writing out ban lists now?

@numberwang so you know what's someone is posting about you and can defend yourself.

I am responding to a later post, but I am quoting this one again for the full context that would otherwise not be there due to the auto-cut feature of quote trees.

The reason why the suggestion that numberwang could come in here to defend himself is a good laugh (my initial response to this same post) is that it's not going to happen. He already dodges responsibility and accountability in his own threads, so he sure isn't going to enter a thread where the usual forum replies don't apply. For him, providing no defense is much preferable to trying to provide one because he knows what he is doing.

Outside of this thread, the forum rules are stacked in his favor. The mod team generously leaves it at edits to his threads without any penalties (as seen above in Bandorr's post) while the community's hands get tied by rules that prevent it to call him out. Should it happen anyway, then the community receives a penalty (as seen with vivster's ban). Simply put, the role of the mod team in this scheme is the one of an involuntary supporter of a political agenda; the mod team acts as an enabler, as a tool, without realizing an underlying connection between events because the overall interest in political threads is so low that no close attention is paid to what's going on.

Inside of this thread, it's possible to address numberwang's actions without fearing a penalty, so this is the sole place where the rules are in the community's favor. Here is no mod protection and numberwang knows that any open discourse is a huge disadvantage for him, because it would expose him for what he is: A far right person that grasps for any straw to push his political agenda on a video game forum.

@numberwang You are welcome to explain your existence on this forum, but I know you won't. The very thought of playing with open cards scares you to the bones.

He could easily talk to any mod via pm and not in your soap box. You don't have any basis to call him far right so I would lay off the accusations.

WTF happened to Ka-Pi. That's quite the overreaction to a warning and seems out of character.

The role of the mod team is not up for you to decide.
As for the appropriate course of action... The mod team tends to deliberate on issues, if you feel there is an issue, bring it up with a moderator and we will discuss it. (Or not if we think it's just inter-personal dramatics.)

As for Political threads themselves... There is a reason why their interest is low with the mod team, they tend to be a pretty toxic environment. - Some of us are trying to engage with those threads more frequently, for better or worse. (Myself included.)

Is this for real or is it a practical joke?

If mods are avoiding difficult discussions and users then what is "the role of the mods"? Why are you here if dealing with toxic users is considered an unfair burden rather than the exact reason why mods exist? On what grounds do you elect new mods when they apparently cannot handle the exact task they're for? Why even call yourselves "moderators" when you actively avoid moderating?

You say we should not assume what role the mods have here. Then maybe you'll enlighten us what a mod who avoids modding is exactly for.

And no, banning me for this post is not proving any point. It most likely proves my point, if any.

Ka-pi said nothing wrong. The Catholic church has a problem with paedophiles. Wrong warning.

Nothing wrong? He didn't offer a constructive outlook on the Catholic Church's current issues, he called it a cult and claimed that its members were following blindly. My local church even spoke out against the scandals just this past Sunday, so his post was absolutely a generalization grounded in ignorance.

CGI made the right call with the warning. If posts like that were ever deemed acceptable here, I would have no interest in this community.

Judging by his earlier post about conservatives I think Carl is very lenient on what he considers generalising and not. I agree a warning for ka-pi was the right decision.

For this group's reference, both numberwang and CaptainExplosion have been banned from creating political threads. The Mod Team does not like to block conversation, however, in this case it was found that the contributions of these users to the forums was exceedingly problematic, and was causing more harm to the community than good.

Also, keep in mind that this thread is not here to allow anyone to celebrate moderations or call for further action. As of now, this matter is considered closed, further discussion will not be allowed. Any further questions on this topic can be directed to the Mod Team via PM.

Does not like to block conversation.

Further discussion will not be allowed.

I understand the reasons why, but addressing both things in that same post looks rather contradictory.

Regarding the mod team and not having the manpower to oversee the political portion of the site, would it be an idea to actively recruit a self expressed member of right and left policy into the mod team specifically assigned to work together to moderate just that portion of the site, I'm sure there must be at least one level headed member from each side who could fairly represent and keep in line the others, while wanting to correctly represent their sides views but not have it represented by toxic name calling.

Just mean that some mods were recruited for specific consoles, just think of politics as another console war that everyone plays but everyone is also annoyed that other people play a slightly different system.
