I would like to point out that this is exactly what happened recently.

If you feel it's something we've overlooked, or perhaps mishandled, send me - or another mod, if you prefer - a PM outlining the issue (thread, user, specific posts). I'll bring it up with the team, and we'll check it out.

No, CGI handled it fine. Just pointing something out ;)

@CGI-Quality For future reference, is continuously strawmanning someone's argument over and over an actionable offense? Once could be accidental. Twice can be understandable. Three to four times is blatant dishonesty.

Don't want to speak for CGI, but my take on this would be that while such a thing is obviously obnoxious, there's not exactly a rule against poor debate form. You're always free to logically dismantle such arguments. That said, if this constant strawmanning leads to a noticeable escalation of hostility within the thread, it steers the discussion too far off topic, or drags on to consume the entire conversation of the thread, the mod team likely wouldn't look too kindly upon this individual.

We do keep a naughty list

Can I guess who's on it?

Everyone but the people who constantly make annoying threads.

Would you consider a memorial policy for known deceased members. I'm not going to recommend anything in particular but something that would be placed on the wall of a deceased member to let the community know he or she has passed away. Maybe a wreath with rip or something. I'm sure there are better ideas though.

My personal way of dealing with this, when a poster makes it pretty damn clear they can't discuss the topic at hand because they know it's a lost argument for them, just ignore the person, you know by the 2nd or 3rd time that they're not going to just talk straight about the topic, just clock it up in your own mind and move on from them wasting your time.

Unless it was just completely trying to derail the topic, report the shit out of that.

What is a good reason to necrobump a thread?

If it is a dynamic topic (such as a sales thread) or if involves a question that looks for answers that could come months/years in the future.

What about prediction threads, that get confirmed or proven wrong?

Are they going off-topic?

Keep forgetting we all have different page limit. But seems like a mod sorted it all out. Thankyou.

Can someone explain this to me?

I fail to see the alleged sexism in any of the mentioned posts. Or is this just the new age interpretation of mentioning a gender = sexism, just like mentioning a race = racism?
