No one has a duty to do anything whatsoever other than find, play, and enjoy games they like.  Splatoon is a 'good' game, but since I tend not to like shooters to begin with and I don't like the setting (child squids shooting paint) it's a bad game to me.

You own a Wii U?

My friends, who all have fairly young kids, do.  Like most adult gamers my age, they play games with their kids.  So naturally, me being their 'uncle', I do too.  Most of the time the games are pretty bad, imo.  I imagine when these kids grow older it will get better, but for now most of the games are pretty simple and childish (IE give me little to no challenge or are not in a genre I enjoy).

The weird thing is how invested some people are in Nintendo's success or failure that don't like the company! I would never spend my free time trolling people in message boards about a company that I don't support...

So you don't own a Wii U, but it made sense to you to use Splatoon as an example of a game that you wouldn't buy.

Because I've played it, quite a bit actually, which you'd know if you paid attention.  It's a game quite a few Nintendo fans like and use as an example of a Wii U game done right, yet I don't like it for very obvious reasons.  So yes it's a good example of a 'good' game that would be bad for me to purchase and it's certainly not my duty to own if I did own a Wii U.

Also, I will eventually own a Wii U.  Why you may ask?  Because it has at least one game I do like, Xenoblade Chronicles X.  However, I won't buy a Wii U until I can get the deluxe for $200 or less.  So far no dice.

It already has. I'm shocked how little people are complaining about Nintendo with this reveal. What we've seen is absolutely nothing compared to what the Wii U had going against it. Let me make this clear, the Wii U was not a bad console in any way. It just had too much stigma against it from the people who were butt hurt from the Wii/PS3 era. People are downright positive about the Switch. Although I don't know if it's enough either way though. I doubt Nintendo will be winning the generation. Nintendo needs crazy amounts of hype to win a generation. They have good hype, not great.

You have to remember how much anger Nintendo provoked during the Wii era. They almost drove Sony to bankruptcy. Sony is still recovering and the PS4 isn't really all that profitable. Sony gamers were terrified of Nintendo claiming another generation since it would pretty much kill their favorite console maker.

Microsoft still isn't much different. Investors there want Microsoft out of the gaming industry. Microsoft is O for four and they just aren't making money off the console wars.

Nintendo by comparison is profitable every generation and they made money off of mini-game compilations which hardcore gamers revile with every fiber of their being. Their big reveal for E3 one year was Wii Fit...

The only thing I'm shocked about is that gamers aren't still ready with the pitchforks and torches.

I disagree..... Sony fell off because of their misteps mostly not just because of the Wii being a more popular option back then.....

All this text, yet no explanation as to why you think the Switch somehow has more going against it than the Wii U, so I'm unable to understand why you're shocked.

No, I'm saying exactly the opposite. The switch has less on it than the Wii.  I just don't think less is enough to make it a successful console.

Do you really think that your post frequency makes you a prominent VGC member that should be remembered? While your posts in NIntendo topics are pretty bad, they aren't remarkable. You earn a plus point for feeling the need to talk about Splatoon in response to a post that people shouldn't support certain publishers for the sake of giving money to them, but again, specifics will be quickly forgotten if you don't pull off another stunt like that on a more regular basis.

I assume you are talking about finding a new Wii U Deluxe Set for $200, not a used one. Hahahahaha.

Um no. I was talking about the post you quoted.  As usual you go way wide.  My point was only that people should buy games they like, not waste money merely to support a system or publisher.  If you don't/won't enjoy it, don't buy it. That's it.

Clearly you are the one with the inflated ego talking down at me like you're hot shit.  I know without a doubt I am just another generic user here.

Even used I can't find a Wii U Deluxe under $200 or isn't in shit condition.

So your point was the same as mine all along, but somehow you managed to frame yours as if you are in disagreement with me?

And if you know without a doubt that you are just another generic user, then why do you say such a thing as "you'd know, if you paid attention"? That implies that you should be well-known here.

I was trying to add nuance.  People here love to claim such and such games are good and people are somehow defective or don't like _fun_ if they don't buy and like certain games.  I disagree completely.

If you had paid attention to the previous post you had just quoted when I said that you would know that I have played the Wii U and quite a bit of Splatoon.  Just because I don't own a Wii U doesn't mean I havn't played the game and discovered that I indeed don't like it.

What you're saying still lacks explanation, and if you do think the Switch reveal was good then I really can't understand why you're shocked that a good looking product isn't getting mass hate.

I think that peoples opinion on Nintendo is going to change fairly soon. I think people are going to be very surprised when they see what Nintendo might be bringing to the table with the Switch. Based on what I've heard and putting 2 and 2 together. We're going to see some major changes with Nintendo's brand image.

Also... I hope people don't get upset if Nintendo announces a premium online service with a monthly/annual fee. If my speculation is correct you will be paying for a premium experience, NOT for the right to play games online. Online gaming will remain free. This is a premium service to enhance your experience in a way that is NOT part of the initial console offering promise. Tons of gamers will easily pay $15-$20 a month for this, easily. Nintendo will be laughing in cash flows as they sell a cheap little device that could.

Of course this is all in theory.... just my own speculation. Nothing more. Nope. :3
I really don't even know if this is going to be a reality or not but fuck it! I'd do it! I'd pay that premium for that awesomeness. Cheaper than all of the alternatives if Nintendo offers something like PS+ or PS Now.

But really.... my skepticism of the Switch is suddenly starting to die off pretty quickly. I think Nintendo is smart wait until revealing the ideas behind the Switch. We know about the hybrid stuff, but wait till you get a load of the content in 4 days xD

GET THE FUCK ON THE HYPE TRAIN AND HAVE A SEIZURE!!!!
