Nintendo Switch Accessories Announced by Third-Party Company

Snakebyte announces a range of Switch and NES Classic accessories.

Consumer electronics company Snakebyte has announced a line of Nintendo Switch and NES Classic Edition accessories, which are scheduled to go on sale this spring.

Starting with the Switch accessories, one of these is a headset that features a 40mm drivers that Snakebyte says will provide "crisp, clear gaming audio." Another item is what's being called the Nintendo Switch Starter Kit. This comes with a carrying bag for the system, stereo earbuds, a cleaning cloth, a screen protector, game cases, and more. Here's an image of all of this:

As for the NES Classic accessories, Snakebyte is coming out with a power adapter. The system is normally powered by USB, but you may not always have access to that. The Snakebyte adapter lets you plug the system into any standard power outlet.

Snakebyte is also releasing an extension cable for the NES Classic's gamepad cable, which many remarked was too short. Snakebyte's extender adds 9.8 feet, according to a press release.

"Nintendo has a tradition of honoring the past while forging a bold future, and with the release of the NES Classic Edition as well as the forthcoming Switch, we believe that gamers everywhere will respond positively to the new hardware Nintendo are introducing," Snakebyte CEO Nick Repenning said.

"We expect our range of Switch accessories to be high quality and thoughtfully designed, ideal for a day one purchase alongside new console sales. We believe that the new products announced today will allow us to continue growing market share in our gaming hardware business and look forward to sharing further details soon."

Pricing was not announced for any of Snakebyte's Switch and NES Classic accessories.

The Switch goes on sale in March. Nintendo will announce the system's price and launch lineup, and provide more details on its specs, during a briefing scheduled for January 12. As for the NES Classic, the hard-to-find system remains sold out basically everywhere.

So, absolutely basic "essential set" that every other handheld has in 5 different brands.

But it's for Switch, so every journalist needs to talk about it and give Snakebyte a nice free ad. Pretty smart to announce it first, right before the reveal.

Some people like Snakebyte and the Seasons of heaven devs really understand how PR and journalism work.

This is just the same accessory pack every single handheld in existence has. I don't know why is news-worthy. In a couple of months I'll be able to buy a knockoff version of this on every dollar store (o todo a 1 euro).

You know it deserves the GOTY.

So the Switch does not have a power adapter. Good to know.

NES Classic power adapter, not Switch.

You are absolutely right. I apologize.

You don't get it? It's for the SWITCH. So it is news worthy, and should be tweeted, re-tweeted, made into several threads everywhere and talked about for hours. Even when a developer says "our game is not coming to Switch", you get pages and pages of articles and discussion about it. Journalists are desperate about any possible article including the word "Switch" because it's what they need to talk about these days. I don't think they even consider "is it news worthy?".

This was leaked from Eb games before. So no surprise. But like what someone said..... GET THEM FREE AD!!!!!!!

You mean like the first few accessories and games for every single console over the past 15 years?

It would require bad faith to say that the Switch "hype" in the last year is something common for every console. Everything about this console, every little word about it, even the least interesting bit of information, become an international affair, and it lasted for too long. The forums are almost unreadable sometimes because of the 208978549 Switch's threads, and even the mod team can't make the "One thread for all Switch's rumors" rule work. It's just too much and we already had several threads about users being tired of it, there is a reason for that, and it's surely not an every launch thing.
