Forums - Nintendo - Super Mario Run Downloads 90mil: $30mil in revenue

Actually $20M considering 1/3 goes to Appuru.

I think Nintendo's pricing model is wrong, should've sold each world for $2-3 instead of 1 big $10 paywall after the demo. Many more people who would not pay $10 for the whole thing might've been interested to check a few levels.

sounds in line with what i would have expected. the pricing model is all sorts of wrong for mobile. nintendo was arrogant to think their game is something people would pay outright for when the mobile market doesn't ever buy games that way.

Wow, that is the total revenue of the game, or Nintendo's profits? Because I'm sure Apple is keeping a decent chunk of the money. This looks like a dissapointing result, I don't see this game having legs (yes, Nintendo games have legs on Nintendo consoles, but mobile is way more unstable). At least it was profitable.

Apple take around 20% if i remember rightly.  Don't quote me on that though lol its either 20% or 30% xD

Normally, I'd say "Wait for official numbers". However, if these numbers weren't close to reality, Nintendo wouldn't have let this story run for long without fact-checking it.

Anyhow, the game is blast. I play it daily whenever I get the chance. Collecting all the coins was fun. Now its Toad rallies' turn to make me come back and play daily, they are so much fun, instantaneous fun!

Also don't forget apple probably paid some exclusive deal to Nintendo so Nintendo might get a bigger cut.

30%.

They take 15% of revenues from Subscription-based Apps, like Netflix and Spotify.

That is a lot of profit for something that didn't take much of a budget to create.

People act like a 2D Mario costs anymore to make than your average mobile freeware, specially with much being based on a template of classic games.

How much does an intern left alone in a room with Mario maker for 8h cost?

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

They are using mobile as a marketing tool more so than a revenue stream.

They are? Do the App's advertise the systems on the main menu or something? Do the advertisements and marketing for the App specifically mention the 3ds/WiiU/Switch?

People keeping saying the Apps are primarily to advertise the Dedicated Hardware, but If that's the intention it's done terribly. The App's are made to make money and push Nintendo's influence into another market.

Precisely. ..
