The Jimmy Fallon thing isn't really new.  The marketing is definitely different than it was for the Wii U, deliberately showing older gamers in a way that is clearly influenced by apple and such.

As for the hardware, I didn't necessarily mean power.  Unlike the Wii U, they have a very clear selling point for the switch, so that's a step in the right direction.  I'm still not sure if that selling point is really appealing though.

Mobile games have clearly shown there is a big market for that portable gaming experience, yet while people will happily pass the time with Candy Crush on the go, or will play something like Call of Duty or Mario Kart at home, there is still a stigma around playing more traditional video games in public.  If Nintendo can crack that, and make gaming on the go a cool (or at least not un-cool) thing, then they could have a hit.  They basically have to do what Sony couldn't with the Vita.

I'm in college, let me tell you just how many 3DS's you can spot.

Anyway the Vita ran into the opposite troubles of the Wii U: It had third party but no first party. Nintendo pushing it's games on the Switch solves several of he Vita's problems, and I doubt it uses memory sticks.

I was in college and now I'm not.  Things that are common on a college campus won't be when in five years.  Appealing to the 24-40 year old market is way different than hitting 16-24

The Switch will probably sell about the same as the 3DS with a similar rate of software output. So it's less a rebirth and more business as usual. We can start talking about a rebirth if it actually surpasses 3DS numbers.

So 60 million? Hardly a low number, and frankly unlike the 3DS it will have some killer apps at launch

The Democratic Nintendo fan....is that a paradox? I'm fond of one of the more conservative companies in the industry, but I vote Liberally and view myself that way 90% of the time?

I see death as more likely.

With console and mobile in one they just destroyed the cash cow that their mobile systems used to be. Their failure in the console realm will pollute their success in mobile.

Sure it should do better then wiiu lol, but ill do far less then their last mobile system. While operating under console costs.

60 million is a solid goal for Nintendo to have, even that will be tough though.

3DS did not have to compete with such smartphone/tablet saturation and tablets getting cheaper and cheaper and free smartphone games that are advertised on TV more than any console game when it first launched.

With all the hype building up and the positiveity generated by not only Zelda and the Switch rumors,
but also Pokemon Sun and Moon, I can't help but be reminded of DC rebirth's impact on their universe

Hype reminds you of actual product impact?  Getting ahead of yourself much?
I'm not against Nintendo or against high hopes, but get a grip and realise what you're saying.

Though you HAVE given me nightmares of "happier Batman" IP mash-ups with Mario, Donkey Kong, etc...
At least it's not Happier Mario Batman musicals with talking animal side-kick comic relief.... NO!  ARGH!!!!

I'll wait until after Jan 12th first :p
