4k DVR capture. is probably where most of extra is set aside for.

Do many people use that DVR feature?

Even if they dont, its constantly running in the background right? so you can save clips of gameplay if you do something cool or whatever, and make a quick video of it. I guess some people do.

Switch allows you to take screenshots... if you want to record gameplay you need a capture card right?

Nintendo probably feels too few people need that sort of feature, to make it worth putting in a system.

Sony and MS obviously think this is a feature people want, and should get.

PS4 Pro + for $499 in 2017.

The result is as I expected.

Microsoft cannot come in at $500 again with Scorpio, that is what killed Xbox One in 2013 against $400 PS4. MS should have made Kinect 2 optional. And PS4 Pro may drop to $350. Scorpio is more powerful than Pro, but MS will lose again and never catch up to Sony. Parents will buy cheaper system during holiday.

And how can I forget $300 Switch? It will be 2006 $250 Wii vs $500/ $600 PS3 again!

I am actually looking more forward to Xbox Game Pass subscription service for Xbox One this Spring.

It can hit 4K 60FPS on Forza while only using 66.19% of the GPU. Which means they still have all that extra power to do whatever they please with.

This seems powerful as fuck, really impressive. Now just have an amazing E3 showcase for new games and drop a $399 megaton (If they can manage to sell it at that price I mean) and I think Scorpio could be really huge for Microsoft.

yeah and as it says in the article, 88% (or so) GPU usage when using PC ultra settings. And that's about the same amount of GPU usage that the Xbox One needs to run Forza 6 with 1080p 60FPS. When everything 900p and up can run at 4k resolution without any negative impact on framerate, that's already good stuff.
Only a few 720p or 792p games left that may or may not hit the 4k mark.

The way Sony has been quiet about PS4 Pro sales tells me it not doing wonders anywhere in the world.

VR has not taken off either. So, I belive Sony will be repositioning their estrategy and narative in the next year, expecially focusing on their first party games.

For once, it seems Sony left Horizon to die and is not hyping up as much as it could. On my Youtube feed I only see videos about Zelda or Mass Effect.

There's always room to do more, but despite being a new IP Horizon is Sony's second biggest launch this generation. I'd say their marketing strategy for it was adequate :p

USgamer: Any speculation on what this will cost with the specs you've seen?

"Leadbetter: Well, it's going to be more expensive than Pro. That much is obvious. The physical size of the chip - pretty much the most expensive single component - is larger, meaning it costs more. The extra four gigs of RAM will add to the cost, as will the UHD Blu-ray drive. The hard drive is pricier, the cooling assembly too. I wasn't told anything about price, but reclaiming performance leadership in the console sector with the ambition Microsoft is showing isn't going to come for free."

PS4pro is 399$ atm... so more expensive than that means we know its over 399$.

Throw in "bigger apu chip" + "4gigs extra ram" + "UHD blu-ray drive" + "more expensive HDD" + "much more expensive cooling solution" + "bigger PSU".

Right now its looking like its either 449$ (minimum price) or 499$ (more likely price).

So yes Microsoft can come out with this "premium" product at 500$.

Switch will win 2017 console war.

It will be 2006 $250 Wii vs $500/ $600 PS3 and $400 Xbox 360 again.

Dissapointing but expected. Bump in gpu and memory is nice but cpu is likely very underwhelming. It's close to a generation leap in the graphics department but not as a whole. For $399 it will be a good deal, above that it will struggle to compete with PS4(Pro).

That said this is a mistake from MS, they should have gone for a completely new system(2017 or 2018 release). That would have undercut Sony and with a very recent PS4 Pro they probably wouldn't have been able to respond with a PS5. Also because Xbox One is so similair to PS4, that system would still have gotten great third party support.

Microsoft had an opening and they let it slide, just like last gen.

So what did we find out...?
