this sounds rather impressive. it will be interesting to see how all this shapes up. price tag will be crucial for this things success.

DF predict $499 I think i heard

I don't really see much reason to believe it is going to outperform Pro in sales overall. Maybe do better in the US and UK, and worse everywhere else

If thats true, it'll flop. Microsoft cannot think it can compete against the Pro even if it is more powerful when we're talking 349 vs 499. I'm definently feeling 399 here, especially with the uplocked Jaguar CPU.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

if this releases at 500$ MS are going to have a hard time moving this. PS4 will probably be half the price, and PS4 Pro will probably be 350$. 150$ dollars cheaper. its just a huge difference in price.

I think there is a mistake.. Cpu is going to hold back that gpu... Should have clocked those core higher at least 2.7 or 2.9 considering it is finfet at 14nm. 0.3 upgrade over pro which is i believe 28nm... I dont know, have i missed something..

P.S. Oh and Digital Foundary trying its best not to sound like paid promotion by MS.

Pro and Scorpio are using the same fab process. The only way we will ever see these CPU's at 3GHz is if both companies decide to do one more upgrade this gen when 7nm FinFET arrives.

KBG29 on PSN&XBL

It looks like i was right about them being unlikely to stray from Jaguar (the benefit of the 8-core alternatives didn't seem worth the cost), but it looks like they've gone to great lengths to improve the the design. Definitely the best strategy for a 4k focused system in my opinion.

Overall it looks like a very capable system, and it definitely seems like MS have put more effort into its design than Sony did with the Pro. It's not, however, the 'godly beast' it seems many were hoping for. The gap between the Scorpio and Pro is larger than the X1 and PS4, but not to anywhere near the degree some speculated. Anyone indifferent to the gap between the PS4 and X1 isn't likley to feel much differently here, but to those like me who considered the gap significant, the Scorpio's advantage is clear.

If MS accomplish the goals mentioned in the video and developers are willing to put in the effort, we should see the Scorpio hit a native 4k about as often as the PS4 hits 1080p. I'd say that's a success.

My guess for price is $450, or $400 if MS think the hit is worth the positive PR it'll generate. $500 is also possible, but i don't think MS are that silly. I'd hope they've gotten some good deals for the hardware inside.

You heard right Celador. Digital Foundry are predicting a $499 Price Point.

"PS4 Pro launched at £349/$399. Scorpio has a larger processor (the most expensive single part of any console), 4GB more memory, a faster hard drive, a UHD Blu-ray drive and a state-of-the-art cooling solution. All of these add cumulatively to the bill of materials and if I had to guess - and I'll stress that this isn't based on anything I might have heard on my visit - Project Scorpio is going to cost in the region of $499."

MS came out and said this isn't their main console, but it is a console for the hardcore gamer who know what a tflop is and such. Also, I have a theory scorpio will be the cheapest and most affordable way to play ps5/ xbox scorpio 2 games down the road since the difference in hardware will be between 2 to 3 years when they release and can pull a lot of casuals that way in the future.

I don't think it will be anymore than $450 by the time it launches. If it's $500 or above, MS shot themselves. Yea it has upgraded specs but nothing suggests its so much of an upgrade that it be priced at $500 for Q4 2017 imo...

If that turns out true, than Microsoft will be dead wrong. Despite the fact the GPU is better, 150$ more is going to kill the thing. I really hope Microsoft learns from the Xbox One, and decides to launch at $399

yeah, so DF predicted it would cost around $499

I guess it then comes down to how much MS would be willing to lose on each sale by selling it for less. My guess is after the way things have gone the last few years, the higher-ups wouldn't be keen on losing much

I was looking at the 3D render of the Machine that DF showed, and the cooling solution is pretty impressive.
This is elegant design imo.

MS has stepped up the game, the console looks better buildt than the Xbox One or Xbox One S.
This is Playstation 4 Slim levels of elegant design.
