The best we can hope for is one final push in the form of a direct before the Switch release, like Darwin said.Having said that, I dont think it will happen. What I believe is that Nintendo will keep releasing trailers and statements throught the weeks, backed by the conferences(the few there is), betwenn the two dates.
My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

of course, we will have specific directs for specific launch titles. for example, remember the smash directs? something like that for mario or zelda.

Yup, the 3DS still has a decent library for this year.
I also expect at least one for a game announced on the 12th. If not, then a BotW direct. So I expect, at the bare minimum, 2 directs.
Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

I recall Iwata did a Wii U direct before E3, so it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility. But I think they'd rather let this event do all the talking.
Probably one a month would be my guess, with some random trailers and gameplay vids from first and third parties in the interim. Nintendo will probably really ramp things up after the full reveal to keep the hype train running smoothly.

How many directs do you think they could handle a month? For example a Feb. direct lineup that has one cover a game entirely (say Mario Switch or Zelda BoTW), and another that covers other titles (Ports, third party games, some 3DS stuff)?
The Democratic Nintendo fan....is that a paradox? I'm fond of one of the more conservative companies in the industry, but I vote Liberally and view myself that way 90% of the time?
If they keep making directs. Well I don t see why not.
Directs have been a pretty useful mean of communication for Nintendo.
And with Nintendo revealing the switch games 3 months before launch they'll need a lot of directs to communicate around those games.
We can safely expect a direct for each major games, and maybe another one befire launch to communicate more about ths launch itself and maybe announce more games coming in 2017

considering Nintendo is probably only going to have MarioxRabbid, Splatoon, and one other game (either Mario 3D and Zelda BOTW) at launch, I think its safe to say they would only need to fit in 2 game specific game directs, at most. Since I'm sure Zelda BOTW will get one, but it probably depends on when it launches and I think 3D mario and Rabbids x Mario have a good chance of getting one. So I guess we are looking at like 3 directs before launch. 1 main and 2 specific game directs. Whether they try to fit 2 in Feb and one in March or something like that is to been seen. |
It's possible that we might see some more ports, plus there is a VC part of the direct. With how big Melee is it might not be a bad idea to hype that up, especially if they are interested in E-sports
