The rumor is they don't want people to think it's a handheld.

You could always sell the dock to someone who wants two in their house (for example people who want the dock both upstairs and downstairs). I suspect they will sell the dock separately in the future but likely not at the start.
Who knows what they'll do, all I know is your example is just another reason why this whole Dock thing is just not well thought out at all. We'll have to wait a few more weeks though before we know everything.

That's the thinking that led to the white Wii U amd we all know how that went :P.
I don't know if there will be a Switch any time soon with no dock. I think you will see docks sold separately. There's only benefits to including the dock and selling the dock. A freestanding Switch...they'll need to monitor the opinions among 3DS owners to see how interested they are in having the Switch be a replacement for the 3DS.

(Because there is no reason to have two Switch docks in our house). Or will Nintendo sell a Switch containing the handheld and dock, and a Switch with only the handheld. Hopefully they anounnce something about this on January 12. |
I wouldn't worry about the dock being a major factor of in the price. Just about all the tech is in the tablet itself - the dock probably ony add $10 to manufacturing cost as it's really not any different from the existing WiiU gamepad charging cradle
All you need to charge it will be a USB C cable. So if you'd rather not bother with a dock, you could always use that.
Keep the extra dock at a relative or friends house!
I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016
I think the dock will come included with the handheld but like someone else suggested: sell the extra one on the internet.
I'll be needing a second dock so either I buy one of the spare one's from someone else or buy an official Nintendo dock accessory. Whatever is cheaper to be honest.

I think that ever Switch Will come with the dock.
But You can buy Just the Dock.
But not Just the Switch.
Pocky Lover Boy!

Probably will just be in every box. Just a hunk of plastic with connectors. Very cheap.
