How bout an odd one? Not my fondest. Discovering Ice Climbers was pretty damn fun.
- "If you have the heart of a true winner, you can always get more pissed off than some other asshole."
The SNES era.Best Nintendo system ever imo, and one of the best consoles ever, period.
That was the second and last time a Nintendo home console had the killer combination of their 1st party titles plus the majority of the most important 3rd party franchises at the time.
For Nintendo fans who never really enjoyed handhelds and who only started gaming from the N64 era onwards, well, I tell you that was one hell of a great generation. The best rivalry the industry has ever seen to this day was the SNES vs Genesis.
I was 13 years old (summer of 89) and smashing aluminum cans, washing cars, and mowing lawns. By the end of it I had earned enough money to buy my school supplies, school clothes, and my first true love...my Gameboy. I already had a NES that was a Christmas present from my parents to me and my brother, but the Gameboy was truly rewarding. It was my largest purchase I had ever made on my own. I protected it like a mother would her child. I still have all my games and instruction manuals in very good condition.

Snes era as a whole really. Back in the day the media didnt focus on videogames and you couldn't just look up in the internet whats good and whats not, so discovering gems like Chrono Trigger and Yoshi Island, games I invested a lot of time in, was always fantastic.
Discovering Giga Bowser for the first time in Melee.
"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."
So many.
-Seeing the 10 play demo console in Wal Mart and jumping from game to game, being blown away
-Getting my own NES in 1988 and realizing my true calling in life
-Trading games with my friends
-all day Mario Kart sessions with my family and friends.
-Street Fighter II in my own home!! Unbelievable!
-First time seeing Super Mario 64. It was like seeing the future!
-Mario Galaxy with my daughter controlling the pointer and gathering Star bits!
-Wave Race's water graphics. I thought it was so real!
But my foundest memory was when my brother and I overcame the Dark World and saved the Princess in Super Mario Bros 3. It took us all day and we felt like super heroes. Then she said "Thank you but our princess is in another castle" we both yelled "WHAT!!" and then she said "Just kidding."
Playing Super Mario 64 for the first time and climbing a tree only to see Mario perform a handstand on top of it.
Getting the flying cap on Super Mario 64 and just flying around the first main level in awe.
Ocarina of Time. All of it. Fuck.
Goldeneye. All of it.
Donkey Kong Country. Being blown away by the graphics and super smooth gameplay.
Super Mario Bros. Got me into video games.
First time I played metroid prime, easily the best moment of my gamer life.
