it could be, but to be in Switch, or any other portable, it must satisfy at least three conditions:
1) having been revealed in a working and viable implementation early enough to be included in the project, it can be later than the earliest phases, but it must be before features stop being added, dev kits are sent to developers and refinement and testing starts.
2) being already cheap enough then, or granted to become by the time the portable will start being produced
3) low-power consumption

Yes. A few websites were talking about some form of force feedback when the big Eurogamer leak happened. This may be nothing but another rumor. Still, it would be the next evolution of rumble technology, which has been around for decades with no real improvements.

Yes, I want it. I want to be able to feel my game. Touch is one of our most important senses but it has been virtually ignored by game developers until now. Maybe if Nintendo does not use this tech we might see Sony or Microsoft adopt it.

What leads you to believe that this has anything to do with Switch?

Sorry to take so long with this link. This is the site that mentions advanced force feedback.

This definitely could explain why Nintendo waited so long to reveal it. Nintendo said themselves that they were afraid of revealing the Switch's secrets too soon because competitors might copy it. This is definitely something that can be and will likely be copied by Microsoft and Sony very soon after Nintendo reveals it.  Nevertheless, I can see something like this being a game a changer for the Switch and could give it some of that Wii-like hype near launch.

I could see Nintendo under Iwata trying that but not this time since time.

Switch is Iwata's last hardware idea. It's his baby.

Because Nintendo has something up their sleeve. They are saving something for the January reveal that they don't want other companies stealing. Nintendo have said they wont tell us everything until next month, so there IS something new they will show us. Maybe it is tactile feedback.

errr tbh as it is the Home Console + portable hybrid thing is pretty much a new feature that hasn't successfully been done before with a dedicated video game device. So I am not sure why you would expect something else, especially at an affordable like 250$ price point

The thread title is a question. I am asking if YOU think this is the Switch's secret. Obviously you dont think so, and thats fine.

Well, sounds like a potential killer app. I wonder how much power those things consume.

Could be. And could work.

Good find.

A new patent has been filed talking about haptic feedback.
