Forums - Nintendo Discussion - NES Classic sold almost as many units as Wii U did in six months

I actually thought the numbers for NES Mini were quite low. I was expecting something between 250K and 400K units. I blame the insufficient distribution.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Around the Network

Launch numbers should be higher and is a lot cheaper :p

But yes, the Wii U isn't doing well with the lifeline cut

[3DS] Winter Playtimes [Wii U]

Put this thing in your heads: the Wii U is SOLD OUT. Anything will sell more. Stop sensationalization.

Seems odd to compare a launch number to that of a dying end of life number.

True, but either way, it's not apples to apples.  I mean, with the Wii U it's Nintendo's new flagship home console, though many saw it as overpriced at launch at $299-$349.  With the NES Classic you have more of a nostalgia fueled toy that won't have the same hype behind it, but at just $60, no one is going to think twice about picking one up.  Can't really compare the two.  I also don't see the NES Classic continue to sell well months on end, like a real console would or even match Wii U's lifetime sales.
