The history behind the split, or rather the senseless fighting around it, is pretty interesting.
I highly recommend the Extra History series: Early Christian Schisms over on youtube for an idea of how this kind of pettiness permeates many world religions throughout history - there's nothing especially contentious about Islam, just human beings.

Have a lot of Turkish friends who are Mehlevi and Naqshbandi.

In fact my early Islamic education was from a Turkish Imam when I lived in germany.

For those who are from Indonesia, is it true you lot have big gatherings to perform the Berzangi poem and the Burdha?
