Forums - Gaming - Gaming Laptop v Switch

How would you prefer to play GTA6?

6" Switch - £200 51 56.67%

15" Switch-level Laptop - £400 1 1.11%

15" PS4/XB1 Laptop - £500 16 17.78%

13-17" GTX 1060/108... 22 24.44%

Total:90

A weird comparison.. would go with a laptop since I'm considering getting one

..but I would like to get the Switch eventually if it has a nice library

That is *if* the Switch gets GTA 6. - And if it does, it's framerate, resolution and graphics will be gimped.
Only so much you can do with a Tegra chip.

I would rather just get an nVidia Tegra handheld and stream the game from my PC. - Graphics that easily surpasses any console (Including PS4 Pro) in the palm of your hand? What's not to love?

The image quality get's downgraded so much when you attempt to stream with not a very fast connection (bandwidth wise) though and the latency isn't ideal either for fast paced competitive gaming where every 10th of a milisecond matters too ...

Why is this even a comparison... wtf

They're both portable, they both play graphically intensive games.

Why woudn't you compare them?

because size wise even the smallest laptop (again laptop, not notebook) are much larger than the switch

you can't play Grand Theft Auto in your hands walking around on a laptop. Silly comparison

I'd take the laptop. Nintendo needs to prove that there will be support in 3 years. As a Wii U owner it was a bad experience outside of a few good games and a couple great ones.

*edit and there is no proof whatsoever that GTA  6 will end up on Switch. I doubt that it appears on it.

Battery life on a laptop while playing games: Anything between 10 minutes and 2 hours. I have a laptop that does gaming ok, with a Geforce 950M. It has a decent battery, when I'm working I get around 10 hours of battery life. When I'm playing Civilization or Rise of the Tom Raider, that shrinks down to one hour. I kid you not.

Even my MacBook Pro, which gets a hell lot of praise for its battery, doesn't last longer than 90 minutes when playing Euro Truck Simulator 2. Laptops really are no good for playing on the go. They're just great if you happen to carry around your PC a lot. Which I do.

Anyway, a comparison to the switch is pretty pointless in my opinion, because these platforms offer vastly different game libraries.

What a fantastic thread. You've outdone yourself.

Don't like portable gaming in any sense, so neither. The bigger question there is obviously if GTA VI is even gonna get a Switch release, which is IMO doubtful.

PC + Nintendo have always been a good combo.

I never knew Skyrim is graphically intensive... Wait a second, is it still 2011?

Gaming laptops are awesome however comparing it to the Switch is alittle strange. Yes both portable devices that can both plug into your main TV. They are very different pieces of techology. Basically comparing a Tablet to a PC. You just don't do.
