Would you pirate a $10 Nintendo iOS game?

Definitely Yes 28 27.18%

Probably Yes 10 9.71%

Probably Not 12 11.65%

Definitely Not 53 51.46%

Total:103

@LurkerJ: Thanks for the numbers. I've always expected the store would be at least third, but then again, Apple makes the cheapest hardware and sells it with highest margin, so I guess this is logical.

If I buy myself a new device, I don't need the old one. Granted, I can always sell or give the old one away, but considering only the two newest Iphone models seem to be of interest, and older than that, people do not seem to be interested getting one even for free (not around here, at least).

People pay $100 - $400 for a used iPhone 6,  $100 - $250 for a used iPhone 5S and $50 - $150 for a used iPhone 5 (prices depending on storage size and condition).

It's free to play so I can gauge my interest that way

If it's not fun, I won't get it and if it is, I will see if it's worth the price, but no I wouldn't pirate this game

Probably won't even get it anyways :p

I wouldn't pirate any $10 iOS game, but definitely not a Nintendo one. I never pirate new games, and even if I did, I would want to support developers who are bringing decent sized premium games to mobile anyway. No more of this F2P nonsense.

That said, due to the always online requirement, I would most likely pirate Super Mario Run after buying it, if such a thing becomes possible. I understand the reasoning behind it, and with piracy on mobile being so rampant, I can even see how it's justified, but I'm still not very fond of that particular brand of DRM, and will do anything within my power to not have to deal with it.

I don't pirate anything, ever. If I want something I can't afford I will either save up for it or not own it.

Some people have re-quoted me on the factual basis of the numbers. To be completely honest and transparent this OP was based off of an interesting Reddit thread that garnered a lot of responses. This forum is nice because you get more lengthy responses and not as many, so I felt it would be perfect here.

The numbers could be off, but what seems clear to me is that the numbers for piracy are significant. In other words piracy seems to be commonplace. I mean if it's 60 then that is damn high, but 40, 20, and 15 would all be extremely significant either way.

Me personally, I wish they had an offline mode for just the free version, levels 1-1 through 1-Castle. And then everything else online would be cool beans.

- Going by the Poll, about 25-30 percent of people would pirate it.

Doesn't it have DRM?

Also, no.

Yeah... we know it requires you to be always-online, so I think it's likely that you won't be able to pirate it.

I don't think it takes long for the pirates to figure out how to go around it.

It's not that I'd get the game anyway, but in the case I'd get the game, I'd pirate it because of the "always online" requirement in the non-porated version.

No, but I don't pirate games. People that do should be fined and penalized in other ways.

You would pirate games if you were in a country like Pakistan where games don't officially get released and the currency exchange makes the game all the more expensive. I literally have to wait each year for the one time my relatives go to Belgium to meet my other relatives to order games for my console. Nintendo consoles and games come here illegally years too late and PS and Xbox games are more than twice the price. Pokemon go never released here so you can see why piracy is high
