40 percent more people on Xbox live than last year? Of course! You had an entire years worth of sales, such a non statistic.

It's even worse than that, they compare just one day, Sunday 27th this year to Friday the 27th last year. Like WTF lol. Xbox Live uptake must be starting to stagnant if the refrained from using the whole months stats. I'm not American but do you usually see more people play on the Sunday comapred to the Friday? It's just strange that they chose to be very specific.

I think they run reports to find an array of stats and then they base their their PR on the highest stat they can find no matter how ambigious or meaningless the stat is.  Last year they started with MAU which is probably the only stat that will always be positive (assuming that people play the consoles they buy)

Where are you guys seeing a "300k gap" on GAF?

Won bet with t3mporary_126 - I correctly predicted that the Wii U's LTD at the end of 2014 would be closer to 9 million than 10 million. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=6673287

But the monthly stat must not reflect that great for them to not use it. If the resort to always getting the best possible stat, they would always be comparing 1 day with the peak difference for the month. A date from last year will fall on a different day this year, I bet you could find some drastic differences if the date from last year wasn't a peak day but the same date this year fell on a peak day for users online.

If I were microsoft PR I´d just take a "win" month and don´t say anything.
After that they can stop releasing statements and be just fine instead of embarassing themselves with pointless statistics.

I remember seeing it somewhere...

Whats weird is now people are saying "67k".

Never mind they where talking about sales in the UK with that 67k nr.

I just want to know what better deals the PS4 had They had ONE bundle the freaking Uncharted Bundle for $249 the same price as like 4 or 5 XB1 bundles(Gears, BF1, Minecraft, Name your game etc). And the PS4 dropped to $220 just like the XB1 did. Am I reading stuff in this thread correctly?

So with the XB1s release winning by a little over 100k was domination....but for the PS4 winning by 300k is not domination and not impressive(even though we don't even know if the 300k number is accurate or not)?

I try to stay out of this stuff usually but some of these post make absolutely NO sense at all....

The absence of evidence is NOT the evidence of absence...

In all fairness the 300k gap is people assuming. We have no idea of numbers but it's likely more than 300k but we also cant rule out it being lower.

Apparently when you are the  market leader any win that isn't sheer domination (which at this point I guess must be at least half a million units?) must be seen as barely hanging on.  It is weird logic, I agree.

Friday vs. Sunday? Friday November 27th was black friday. I would assume the number of peole on Live would be lower than a normal friday.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Its all about whichever fanboys are the most vocal. Depending on which ones post the most to the forums, you'll get totally different spins on the same data.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
