Truth hurts. Everyone can see where the Japanese industry is going, and Nintendo is the only one that can change it.

Sony has had their shot with PS3 and PS4 and it isn't working. The industry there keeps getting worse and worse. Japanese developers need to support the ACTUAL MARKET LEADER. It's not a complicated formula.

Nintendo is the only one that can move hardware big numbers in Japan anymore. If they want to ignore that, Japanese devs can fuck right off because I'm not going to buy their crap on iOS/Android in 5 years when they've destroyed the entire Japanese game business. Street Fighter and Metal Gear are two IP that might be dead already unfortunately.

sorry op i can't take you seriously

These sales could push SE over the NS Line if they didn't decide already to port FFXV (and others) to NS.

Yup, it's time for Square-Enix to drop the bullshit and their blatant favortism to Sony. It's not 1998 or 2004 anymore.

Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy XV should both be on Switch. Kingdom Hearts III also.

Nintendo is the only one that can save the Japanese game industry, Japanese developers need to wake up and realize they need to help Nintendo and provide Japan with one plaform that can hold the line and be successful there. Otherwise they should start prepping for a mobile only future.

lol
lol
Markets change, Japan is not the Japan of late 90s early 00s.

All those games are world wide sellers. Japan is just another market now.  Never to be what it once was.

If I were a japanese dev, I'd be more inclined to support mobile..

Not a hybrid console.

In Japan are they not?

Quite honestly the 3DS does not get the support it should. It has outsold the Wii U, PS4, and Vita there *combined*, yet Japanese developers stubbornly keep plugging away and support even the Vita over 3DS in many cases which is a platform that has 1/4 the fucking sales base.

Aside from Monster Hunter, DQ, and Yokai Watch it doesn't get the support it deserves on that basis. A lot of other Japanese devs just sit on the side line and watch Nintendo basically do all the heavy lifting.

Square-Enix right now is probably thanking their lucky stars they did not look off the 3DS for Dragon Quest XI, that would have been a huge, huge mistake.

And while I agree Nintendo has made some stupid hardware decisions in the past, Switch looks adequete enough to play most any modern game. It should be supported strongly rightfully so.

Let's see if I can get this right.

You want SE to port/bring a ton of games to a system whose brand that hasn't had them in over 20 years[at least ignoring DS and such spin offs]. So that they sell better in Japan.

And your thinking is "well they released it for the switch in Japan - why not port them to the US".

That may be one of the strangest and most convoluted plans I've ever heard.

I'm saying the whole concept of alienating Nintendo from these brands is a big part of the reason the Japanese industry in general is on the brink on collapse and headed towards an iOS/Android future.

They need to get over their biases or whatever the reason is of the last 20 years and get over it. It's not 1998 anymore. This is 2016 now and things have changed big time.

If Switch can have DQXI then there is no excuse for other Final Fantasy games on there. The 3DS outselling the Vita 4:1 in Japan but still getting locked out of games like World of Final Fantasy, Resident Evil Revelations 2, and Dragon Quest Builders is a fucking joke.

Digital.

What's a Final Fantasy?

For handhelds, obviously yeah. I doubt we can discuss about what support should or shouldn't the NS get since, you know, the thing hasn't released yet. Nintendo fans on a forum being excited about it doesn't represent the world. So yeah we better wait before talking about the "here and now" regarding the japanese market.

Seriously that opening for FFXV is ... a disaster. Once one of the top franchises in Japan now can't even hit 700k its opening week? There's no spinning how devastating this is. This one proud franchise used to clear 2 million in its first week without breaking a sweat there.

I think Square-Enix hitching their wagon to Sony has caught up to them. Why has Nintendo never been given a main line Final Fantasy game despite having the best selling system in Japan for each of the last two generations by a large margin? Bet they are counting their lucky stars Dragon Quest XI will be on 3DS and Switch too, otherwise they would be in big, big trouble with Dragon Quest as well.

Be careful what you wish for Capcom in making Monster Hunter for PS4 as well, because it could be a very similar and sobering result.

Japanese developers better hope Switch does well in Japan, because it's curtains to the traditional  Japanese game industry if it does not take off. It's going to go smartphone only and you're going to see Dragon Quest XII and Final Fantasy games launching on mobile if Switch does not succeed.

It's time for the Japanese community to support Nintendo again unless they want to gauruntee their own destruction. Street Fighter V bombing on PS4 was bad enough, this needs to be a huge wake up call. The traditional home only console in Japan is dead, it's time to rally around the portable/home Switch.

It has nothing to do with playstation. japanese gamers just don't like square enix, and SFV launch was half baked (no arcade/campaign).

To ask a question as to why Nintendo haven't gotten a mainline Final Fantasy game is hilarious. To put it in simple terms, the hardware specs that nintendo been putting out is too weak.
