Marketing tricks don't decide the new gen.

Crap!  Looks like we need to get the front page changed.  Is the New 3DS the first console of next gen?  Or maybe the last console of the gen before the last gen's last next console?  Hmmm.

The PS5? I think you're thinking way ahead. We're at the halfway mark of the current gen. Also, Nintendo does not make or break generations. They march to the beat of their own drummer. They are the only brand that is walking into next gen.

You wish it was the halfway mark. Sony has already started the gen but is pretending they haven't. Sega-fail.

WiiU/XBO/PS4 is current gen.

Switch/Scorpio(12months?)/PS4.5-5.0 is the next gen.

I dont know how you could realistically ever compare Sony to Sega. Sony supports every console for up to a decade to gain maximum profitability.  This gives the mass market who cannot afford games the maximum amount of time to get the best out of their platform. Their gens usually last seven years.

Wrong. Nintendo brought Sony into the gaming industry and walked out on them after using Sony's developers under their nose. Sony and them worked together and when Sonys lawyers wrote up the contract Nintendo left them high and dry at CES. Nintendo NEEDED Sony for their formats, not the other way around. Sony got into the industry to get even and realized that the gaming industry was second nature for them. They dominated the second they started because they made formats and affected the way the quality of storage and formats are made.  The gaming industry killed two birds with one stone because they could push formats on both fronts.

The only company who tried to get into the industry because outsider interest is Microsoft who was threatened by Sony and Nintendos lack of need to partner with them like Sega had. Microsoft has been Sonys shadow ever since.

Sony enetered the gaming market to get even at Nintendo? This isn't a movie STAGE. Second nature? They've barely made a profit in their gaming division, luckily they offest that elsewhere.

Nintendo could have never made a home console again and their handhelds would have beat Sony regardless of storage medium.

Sony doesn't decide their gens, the market does.

The new Neo Geo console will double those 3 combined, just you wait and see.

Count the WiiU as a midgen upgrade while you're there. It's a much smaller jump than 2Tflops to 6Tflops.

Sony by default. Unless something big and unexpected happens, Sony always win.

Isn't Scorpio still an Xbox one, like the pro is still a ps4?

So if Scorpio is a whole new gen for Microsoft, and having only 1 1/2 to 2 teraflops more than the pro, won't it be considered way underpowered next to a full on new PS5? Sounds bad for Microsoft.

Seems like a good proposition.

Nope.

Sony already made games (Kazunori Yamauchi had a small studio within Sony and they were third party and PC devs, very small).

Sony made some components for SNES. Nintendo asked Sony to make a disc addon to SNES. After that they felt in bad position on the deal and backtracked, going to Phillips (reason why there is also a 3Di and a Zelda on it). Since Sony already had put a lot of time and money and had a very long into the way for having a console of their on, Kaz Hirai fought his superior and got greenlit on making PSN.

And nope Sony made a lot of profit on gaming before PS3 happened.

PS sold more than GBA, PS2 sold more than DS, PS3 sold more than 3DS and PS4 will sell more than Switch, so how come Nintendo HH are beating Sony?

Nope... N3DS have one game only that isn't playable on 3ds, PS4Pro won't havy any game not playable on vanilla PS4 (unless Sony changes their promise) and Wii can't play any WiiU game as far as I know, so there are quite big generational differences to be seem.

Now you make no sense, Wii U as a mid gen upgrade?

The market hasn't decided that PS4 Pro is next gen, I'm pretty sure they'll count the sales as ps4 sales. Same with the scorpio.

Nintendo is the only one that has jumped gens. And rightfully so, their behind in power significantly with the Wii U. And they have already stopeed production on it.

Upgrading hardware doesn't necessarily mean it's the start of the next gen. Sony, MS and Nintendo did mark the beginnings of their consoles gens respectively, not the market. The market accepted their way of doing it and the market will accept what they are doing now.
