Forums - Nintendo - I honestly wouldn't mind if Nintendo never made another "realistic" Zelda game.

I just think the whole cartoony "cel-shaded" art style fits the series better.  Gives it a real fairy tale vibe which this series, well, is.  Plus, it helps it stand out from everything else these days.

What do you think?  Are you like me and are content with Zelda's current art direction or would you like to see something different in the future?  What's your favorite Zelda art style?  How do you think Nintendo has handled the Zelda art styles?

110% agreed. Somethings are better off not being realistic while others are better being realistic

Breath of the wild, looks to be the most realistic of them so far... and it looks awesome.

Breath of the wild is a beautiful game, cant wait to play it on my Wii U. I love the artstyle, Nintendo nail it everytime.

There is no realistic Zelda. If we compare the series with TES Skyrim, Zelda has always had a very prominent artstyle that made the world and its inhabitants look somewhat cartoony (even TP, just look at the NPC and tell me they're realistic). Compare that to Skyrim, where everything looks what a realistic take on the fantasy world should look like.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I want a progression of the new art style, I think zelda with this art style and better textures, shadows etc would be ART. I love the new art style but the wii u is holding back the game visually.

I never want realistic Zelda, other companies can make realism, I want Zelda to be Zelda.

I've never once felt they failed in the art style department... really, the only one that probably wouldn't appeal to me is some photo-realistic style game that everyone keeps clamoring for for whatever reason, as if we don't have enough of those drab settings in the market today.
