I guess reviewers are re-testing the game with the updates :P

If that means better scores in exchange for waiting a bit more, I'm totally on board!

Well all the reveiws out atm are without the day one patch which is quite important as it adds story,  side quests and even new skills. Plus bug fixes of course.

But is it worth waiting another 2 hours?!

Really? Are you serious?I may not like the direction they are taking with FF XV, but FF is arguably one of the most influential and important franchises in gaming history.

-Critical reception?Hell yes

-Popularity?Yes, without a doubt

-Sales?Yes, though this can be argued that there are better selling JRPGs out there.

-Online competitive community? No, but why the hell would it have that kind of community when FF was and is always a single player game?

-Influence on gaming industry?Of course, thats a no brainer. That should be beyond obvious.

-the cross media point?Outside of gaming there is some, but nothing major, but what about it?Few franchises does that and are successful in these ventures in the long run

-A cultural icon?Of course.Again, that is beyond obvious, as obvious as the Influence on gaming industry point.

You can't seriously believe Final Fantasy is more popular than Pokémon or sells more or is a bigger cultural phenemenon/icon. Seriously, did you live under a rock for the last twenty years? Didn't you see the hype Pokémon Go unleashed on the world this year?

And FF has an MMORPG, so no FF isn't always a single player game. Dragon Quest had a much bigger influence on the video gaming industry than FF by the way, including on FF itself.

And many main-line FF games have received mixed reception from fans and critics alike.

Who said anything about being more popular than other game?I just said that FF is popular and it is a cultural phenomenon. Now wether or not it is the biggest, is an entirely different matter.

And I personally dont consider the MMO FF to be "main" FF, simply because they are an ever expanding story. And no, Dragon Quest is not more influential than FF by far.It does have its merits in gaming history in general, but FF is way more important.

And to your last point, what franchise that survived for 30+ years did not?Even Mario has some mediocre games out there, even if its spin off games(tennis, sports in general, Mario Hotel, etc). The same goes for Dragon Quest and Pokemon. The thing is that FF maintained the quality throught. And even though I personally dont like the direction FF 15 took, it will still be a great game.Heck, even FF 13 which is hated by many, is still a great game, just not a great game by FF standards.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

I always said that Final Fantasy XIII is a great game, but not a great Final Fantasy game.

The nuance is important. Next to many other games, FF XIII is a really good one. But next to all the other mainline FF games, it's quite far from the series high standards.

Well i had already downloaded the first patch some time when i was asleep.  Im not sure how big the 2nd patch was but it took only 10 mins.

9gb patch is taking me an hour, but that's over wifi. Can't imagine how long it would have taken had I not upgraded my internet plan just yesterday.

Lol fuck this, switched to Ethernet... 8 minutes left :D
