Should most likely drop into the low 80s when all the reveiws come in. And for the people who reviews and scores are important, anything less than a 90 for a game that took over 10 years to develop should be unacceptable.

Can't have your cake and eat it too.

Actually when Final Fantasy XV was rebranded they scrapped 80% of the game and started from scratch.  The game only went into full development around that time. 

86 is really good. It could be worse, could be a bad game!

For a normal game, 86 is outstanding.

But i've learned over the years that some games, especially Final Fantasy are given an automatic +10 in all their scores. I mean heck, ff13 got like an 83. I'm guessing at this stage in its reviewing cycle it was even higher than 86. Scores always get lower over time. 

So color me sceptacle. I'm saying that 86 is overrating, and its a 75 game if not lower. Once the initital hype of a game that people have been waiting for dies down the flaws will come out. 

Heck most reviews should automatically be 5 points lower. Game reviewers rate games way to high. 

This demonstrates a profound lack of understanding and general naïveté regarding how game development works and a lack of knowledge of this game's history in development. 

And time spent does not increase or reduce quality, nor should it even factor in to the judgment of the creation as it stands.  If it's good it's good, if it's bad it's bad.  The rest is all pointless drama and white noise.

So 3 points above XIII to start out?
Not too shabby.

Why 'sadly'?

86 is a pretty good score, especially this gen where critics are, in general, being harsher when compared to last gen.

Also, considering the troubled development this game went through, the final product being a good one is a relief.

I can tell you from experience this is far better than XIII 😜 what you say is true about FFXIII though it should never have been 83 but looking at FFIX which is the highest rated FF game (also my favourite)  i think some of them deserve their ratings.  Lightning returns got 66 on the metacritic and that's probably more fun than XIII lol also XII-2 was far superior to XIII and also rated lower.  I feel FFXV is reviewing well and people are actually being more harsh on it before of the development time.
