Forums - General - Black Friday: Canada Vs. USA

You see that in Europe and Canada, during sporting events and at last call mind you.

PS1   - ! - We must build a console that can alert our enemies.

PS2  - @- We must build a console that offers online living room gaming.

PS3   - #- We must build a console that’s powerful, social, costs and does everything.

PS4   - $- We must build a console that’s affordable, charges for services, and pumps out exclusives.

PRO  -%-We must build a console that's VR ready, checkerboard upscales, and sells but a fraction of the money printer.

PS5   - ^ -We must build a console that’s a generational cross product, with RT lighting, and price hiking.

PRO  -&- We must build a console that Super Res upscales and continues the cost increases.

Yeah, retailers are just trying to have Black Friday here so that Canadians don't go south for shopping. December 26th is our big sales day.

Assholes that are filming the fight instead of trying to break them up or calling the cops.... smh

if two people are dumb enough to fight over some sale, I say let them. heck, they can kill each other and I'll just shrug it off.

When it comes to stupidity, human reaches its potential during times like Black Friday. Instead of being fooled and thinking these are miraculous deals, do your research and realize most places always have hidden TV deals. People are idiots. I spent a lot on Black Friday, but I realized that going one day after and in a suburbs region will prevent any sort of chaos. This is clear desperation by people. Heck, most people end up buying stuff on black friday just because it's on 'sale'. It's a joke

@OP If people think this is bad, imagine how it'll be when resources become scarce?

Holy shit at the grown woman taking the box right out of the little kid's arms, laugh my ass off.

You will never see stuff like this in Canada or Europe, not even on Boxing Day.

Yeah you will

That's because we only see the worst of Black Friday in the US and the deals in Canada aren't half as good

Oh really?

They did arrive in single file though :)

This whole Black Friday ordeal has turned into some mass celebration of capitalist consumer culture gone terribly wrong.

Not only that but the "holiday" is seemingly infringing on Thanksgiving as well.

Personally I like Black Friday, but I typically go on Black Friday the night of Friday(i.e every doorbuster is long gone).

Sure, I miss out on "miraculous deals"(aka exaggerated deals), but I get the benefit of:

a) not having to stand in a line

b) not Potentially being stomped on by dozens of people

c) enjoying thanksgiving with family, or simply enjoying my day

d) having peace and quiet when shopping for other stuff on sale

Yes, we do have some...colorful personalities here in the States, lmao. I've never been to a store during the Black Friday rush hour, though I'd like to try it at least once before the whole thing is outlawed.

I've only been in the US a few years, but my Black Friday experiences so far:

1) Thursday 8pm opening at Wal-mart, crowded but not too chaotic (this year happened to be in a pretty small and well-educated town, pop 50k, with a low crime rate).  I managed to get a good deal on a vacuum cleaner.

2) Thursday night mall opening: huuuuuge lines outside to get into the mall.  Parking would have been a mess, but thankfully we had arrived much earlier to catch a movie.  Most stores had gated lineups to control the number of people in the store at any one time, so each store was relatively calm once you got inside.

3) Friday early morning Target, long after the initial opening (6pm Thursday): whisper quiet.  Staff were low-key, there was no rush for anything, and I managed to get a $99 New 3DS Mario edition with no hassle and no competition :).
