Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo Switch Price Confirmed via Toy R US & Gameseek UK !!

The XB1 and PS4 both cost $300 and come with a free game. That means the switch, without a pack in game, would still be $10 more than a more powerful console. How exactly is this a good price to sell th switch at?

Is that their normal price or just temporary holiday sales? If the former, then that hopefully means Nintendo isn't relying on price advantage anymore, afterall it's not like it helped them out that much before.

They've been selling it for that price since May. http://www.pcmag.com/news/344893/microsoft-drops-xbox-one-price-to-299

Its rumored that Switch will have a $300 sku with more storage, 4G & a game so it would be the same price as PS4/XBO

Those consoles don't have portable gaming built in as well.

$250 would be a nice starting point. I'm not getting it day 1, but I'll wait for more details anyway.

You're actually trying to convince yourself and others that with the Switch, you're actually getting two devices for the price of one. No, it's one device.

You can try to look at it as a "best of both worlds" scenario, but it can also be seen as a "worst of both worlds" scenario. The specs are too crappy and the support too questionable for serious home gaming. On the other hand, you have to wonder about the handheld side of things as well. It's not really as handy and pocketable as traditional handhelds have been, and battery life is going to be really questionable. A jack of all trades, master of none? Is that going to fly? We'll see.

Well, if we look at it just from a handheld perspective, it offers a HUGE jump compared to the New 3DS.  And like Miyamotoo said, that one is still selling pretty good at a price of  $199.

As for the pocketability of it...  I think tablets and phablets have been showing for the last couple of years that the small form factor is highly overrated.

The (New) 3DS XL (and DS XL before it) has been showing that for the past couple of  years as well. That thing doesn't fit in very many pockets. If it's a desirable enough device for people to want it, they'll lug it around.

I think the sweetspot is $249.99, I mean, the device is more complex than a 3ds. $199 would be great too but I would consider that a steal.

I mean more from a general standpoint, without taking the value of the product into consideration, since we don't yet know exactly how good or not the Switch is gonna be. It's definitely a better concept than the 3DS, but still people have not shown to be willing to pay more than $200 for a handheld. That could change of course, but only time will tell!

Well Switch offers much more than just a 3DS, Switch also at home is real home console. That definitely have much more value that just $50, espacily when we consider that New 3DS XL still selling good or $199, not to mention incomparable stronger hardware including 720p vs 240p 3DS screen.

Despite quoting my post you seem to have completely missed what I'm getting at if you're still trying to bring up the Switch's value which is undetermined as of now, hence why I'm not taking that into consideration and am just going off of history when I say $250 might not be well recieved. The Switch has 0 games confirmed, so if we're to judge it right now then I can only say it isn't worth the dirt on our shoes. Concept is better than 3DS but we don't know the execution, if it'll work well. More power is the only absolute certainty (though also the least important factor imo), but at what cost, size and battery life perhaps? Just gotta wait til the 12th!

Your reply is a bit flawed here as one you say going by history yet the's never been a mainstream device like the Switch to determine that which kind of contradicts you. Secondly the are games confirmed for Switch, Zelda, DQX, DQXI, Sonic, Lego City Undercover and Just Dance and finally the rumoured price point is what the PSP cost when it launched in EU and that platform went on to do very well so going by history that price is not really a problem.
