Forums - Gaming - Good Gaming Headsets?

So I am going to buy a headset soon, and I need it to muffle sound and act as a microphone. My last headset broke my audio jack in my laptop. It also easily got destroyed within 2 years or so and can no longer be used.  And I would prefer it to use usb or wireless so I can use it with PS4 and Laptops. I put very little research into my last headset, and this time I would like to do it right.

Any suggestions for quality/ good deal? Possible Black Friday or Cyber Monday deals?

It really depends on how much you're willing to spend. I have a Hyper X Cloud II myself. You can find them for 80 or so I believe. It has a 3.5mm which I plug into the dualshock4 when I use it on the ps4. It also comes with a USB extension which you plug the 3.5mm jack into and then plug it into your PC. Sound quality is quite good and the microphone is decent. I think there is a new version out now.

You can definitely find better options but you will be looking at a higher price. I suggest looking at various reviews from different sources and find one that you think best suits your needs.

Good luck!

I use the Playstation Gold Wireless. Great combo of price and performance. Look it up. Great reviews. It has a jack option too.

Same. Good features for the price, though there's room for improvement all around. Other sets will outperform it if you're willing to pay more/forego certain features (like wireless), but it's a good affordable all around package that will plug and play on PC, PS4, and PS3 alike. Just don't be rough with them; my first pair fell apart after a year (band and muffs).

Interested to see what others recommend.

If you aren't trying to break the bank, get this headset. Very good quality and one the most comfortable headsets I've owned. Even more so than my A40 TRs, though the A40 have better sound quality.

Hyper X Cloud 2 shouldn't be bad.
You can use a headphone with mic as well.

Currently have a Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro Plus (microphone integrated to the cable, additional mic available), soundwise superior to gaming headsets in that pricerange.
Logitech G633, sounds like some decent mid-priced headphones. Microphones (there are two different) aren't bad. Built quality is really disapointing though. Especially compared to the Beyerdynamic.

I really recommend you to not go for bass heavy headsets. On one side your brain just gets used to it and at one point starts to 'calculate the bass away'. While not having any physical impact.
On the other hand loud bass will 'hide' midrange sounds as well as higher harmonics. Bad for locating sounds.

Finally, you will have to try anyway. Mainly because of your personal HRTF and the impact it has on listening with headphones.

I decided to go with https://www.amazon.com/HyperX-Stinger-Headset-HX-HSCS-BK-NA/dp/B01L2ZRYVE/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1479923612&sr=8-6&keywords=hyperx+cloud+2

The Cloud 2 seemed a little expensive to me at $100 on Amazon. So I went for the first one I assume for half the price.

The Hyper X cloud 2 is much better headset than that one and it's only $60 on Ebay right now. Personally that's what I would have bought, but it's your money.
