certainly won't do it any harm though. Also we still don't know whether it's a port or sequel

The extra sales will be great to ensure a propper sequel, so it's allright.

Pretty much. It might have sold less on the WiiU, but better overall.

There has not been a lego game in years that has sold as well on one system as Lego City did on Wii U.
Even the PS4 is struggling to make the franchise boom again like it did in the Wii and DS days. Now it is being rereleased on various systems next year. No way any console will have as good of sales as the Wii U had for it.
So no, it was not a mistake to launch it as a Wii U exclusive. We gave the game the sales it deserved. |
oh yes it was.
I don't doubt that the WiiU version will be the best selling, but if they released it back then on all platforms (including the strong 360 and PS3) it would've sold much better than under these circumstances.
LEGO City Undercover sold only 350k more than the next LEGO game on the WiiU platform. Was that 350k worth more than the millions of missed sales on 360, PS3 and the effects of a late port on current gen systems? Surely not. Not even Nintendo could've paid that much to make it a good deal.
IMHO most of the times it is a mistake to release a game on one platform when there are multiples. This applies to 3rd parties
It definitely was a mistake. It limited it's sales greatly. Personally, I think should have come out as a launch window game for the PS4/XBO. Kinda weird they waited this long. Oh well, can't wait to get it.
Didn't know that LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga on Wii is by far best selling Lego game on single console.
Lego games selling good on Nintendo platforms compared to other 3rd parties games.
It was a mistake. But even bigger mistake is game not having co-op option - LEGO game without it is severely limiting audience.
