Why is it outselling it in 3 countries*

Anyway, probably people waiting for PS4 Pro

Could be but the people who ar waiting for still have a ps4, because if you are waiting 3 years to buy a console than you want it to be cheaper so these people will buy a normal or slim ps4 and mostly not the pro or a Xbox one /s because of the value.

Maybe the One S is better. The total package is better one the One S?! Graphic is not everything...

Content is King. That's why the PS4 has been out selling the Xbox One globally. As to why the Xbox one has outsold the PS4 in several regions recently he could be a variety of reasons. One logical conclusion is that consumers we're waiting on the PlayStation 4 Pro. That seems to be the case so far as evidence in both Japan and the United Kingdom.

Sony fucked up with the Slim and the Pro. Simple as that. I don't expect this to "turn the tides" or anything like that, but it was a missed opportunity for Sony.

BC is not the only variable at play here. Correct me if I'm wrong but removing PS2 BC on the PS3 meant the PS3's price could be slashed which at one point in time cost $600.

No, I think it just recently celebrated its one-year anniversary so X1 BC started November 2015:

No but one must ask how much bigger the gap might have been if not for Microsoft working hard to turn their fortunes around: lowering prices, offering more appealing bundles, being less restrictive with their modding policy, 4K Bluray player support, and I think even outspending Sony at times in marketing their console.

Not always: just because something sells really well doesn't always mean it's what gamers want: No Man's Sky sold very well especially considering it was made by a tiny team of 15 or so people and yet its legacy is not currently a positive one.

GTA 5 sold incredibly well and yet I find the game to be terrible.

Giving credit is still positive press for XB1 (Microsoft would thank you for it, I'm sure) much like good word of mouth. I repeat once again that positively changing the image of XBox is a gain, not a loss.

Yes I'll correct you, the baseline PS3 was 500 at launch not 600.

Thank you. Am I also correct that cutting PS2 BC allowed for lowering PS3's price?

But sure enough from what we know it was the 600 that sold better.

When you're willing to spend 500 on a console, what's another 100 amirite?

You may skip the fact that PS3 dropping BC and selling better still because of price reduction isn't a proof that most don't care about BC, but how will you ignore that X1 after adding BC haven't seem a spike in sales to prove how useful it was seem? Even more when we had the first statistics showing how little the function was used.

Firstly, whether it was used or not isn't really the point: BC helps improve XB1's appeal and reputation. XB1, having shed its mandatory kinect crap and such is no longer the bane of the industry. Now it's the console that has BC and better mod support which distinguishes it from the PS4.

Secondly, what statistics are you referring to?

Why?  Because it has no UHD drive?  I don't think people give a crap about that.  At least not any significant number.  And the Pro's position on several online retailers bestseller charts proves that.  Will the PS5 have one?  If UHD Blurays actually take off, most likely.  Right now it's just a little extra bonus, but nothing that's really going to sway people one way or another.

i think the bad marketing at the beginning dont interest the people no more, and some groups of people now see that the Xone has some important exclusives that the ps4 is missing (racing/Shooters) like halo Gow4 and Forza series, so the xone s only was the i touch to change systems.

Two of my friends for example changed in the last month and their opinion was that the ps4 dont have a good racing game or good exclusive shooters, and they dont trust Sony that gt sport will be good or that the game release next year. After they went to gamestop the traded in their ps4 with all games and one get the 500Gb Fifa bundle Xone s with Forza 6, Halo 5 and Bf1. The other buyed the Green 1 Tb Bf1 Bundle and get Horizon 3 with it.
So Now they have the good exclusives and all the 3rd party support they need.

I think Ms has the Momentum Now because of an exellent exclusive Line Up with Gears 4, Halo 5, Quantum Break, Forza6, Horizon 3, Halo Mcc, Sunset Overdrive or Ryse Son of Rome and others people see it now.
Some will say that you can play some games on the pc but this dont interest a 30 year old worker who dont have enough time to play how he want to.

The other side is the technical part where normal (casuals) dont see a diffrence betwenn 900 p upscaled to 1080p or 1080 p native

Certainly Driveclub is a very bad game, Project Cars is inexistent so PS4 have no racers right? Destiny, CoD, KZ are all very inexistent shooters.

Yes, the cut of BC helped a lot cutting the price.

When you are expending 400, the 500 or 600 shouldn't be a problem... I do agree, but a lot of silly gamers, buying 5-10 games a year for 5-10 years think the 100 bucks more on the HW is a problem.

We received some info on how many hours BC was played and it amounted to less than 30 min a month per user. And it matters, added function that isn't usefull, necessary or wanted adds only cost.

I believe some people are influenced by the inclusion of a UHD drive, if only because it allows Microsoft to say stuff like "Only console that can play 4K blu-rays". I mean, the fact that the XBO outsold the PS4 in september and october alone is proof that Microsoft did a better job with the XBO S than Sony did with the Slim. As for the Pro, I personally feel (though that's just me personally) that Sony would've been better off with having a stronger Pro releasing later. Now, yes, if the Pro has a kick-ass NPD in november, I'll gladly admit that I was wrong, and that the september and october win could be written off as people waiting for the PS4 Pro. (and I hope that's the case. My Sony stocks will rise more by Playstation doing well than my Microsoft stocks will rise by Xbox doing well simply because Playstation is a much bigger part of Sony's business than Xbox is of Microsoft's. :-3)

Americans have great taste.

Xbox will win november, and then the melltdowns will be huge. Ohhh i can almost taste it hehe

MS got lucky that the PS4P is releasing in November.
