I can only speak for the first game but I won't say the game isn't fun to play for me.

There is a lot of shooting right now which is basically waiting for someone to pop up, shoot, repeat. The climbing "action" is something you get used to in seconds and there is nothing to master at all.

It's the story that is somehow interesting while the acting is just... Yeah, either you like it or not. Nathan is a person that is designed to be sympathic to a lot of people, the game screams mainstream with everything it does.

That said, I am a huge Indiana Jones fan so I look forward to play the other 3 titles, too, but I'm afraid that from a gameplay point of view, it'll be the same.

I played the demo of the first one, I played a bit of the Vita game, I watched all of UC4. It's always the same. Even in the latest game you will still find that pipe/ladder/ledge that will break when you climb on it every five minutes. From a gameplay perspective there is nothing worthwhile in the game.

It's just set pieces after set pieces that put spectacle over everything else. You could just run through the game without paying any attention to your surroundings and you would lose nothing from the experience.

But if you like the story and don't have to puke at their horrible conversations it could be a nice zen-like experience. You know, like watching a movie. A really really long movie.

It's almost like that, yes. You don't have any puzzles that are challenging, you just keep on moving forward through this game. No one gets left behind in Uncharted. Still, I am somehow enjoying it. But the scores it got with over 90 is just not justified, in my opinion.

That's all the mainstream spectacle that will outweigh almost anything. If you leave a game experience with a finishing great cutscene it will elevate everying else.

Look at FFXIII. It was universally hated by the people for the bland and restrictive gameplay yet got passable scores and even some 10s because it is a great spectacle. Uncharted plays even more to the western sensibilities, so it's only natural that it gets a high score.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Still the best game this year imo too.
I really liked Digimon Cyber Sleuth though.
I hope TLG ends up there too.

I see your point... but all UC were more or less like this on the platforming.

Uhhh... I am just playing through UC1 and I hoped that the platforming would get better with its successors...

I wouldn't get my hopes very high... the climbing is very intuitive, but also usually easy, there is just few occasions where you'll find a little lost on to where to go or the path of climbing.

But the cinematic, aesthetic, etc of the climbing is very pleasant and "believable"

I watched all of the Uncharted 4 movie and my sentiment is the same. It's really boring and linear with cheesy lines that try to pass as comedy. It might have been on rails and nobody would've noticed.

My GOTY will be between Mirror's Edge which is a bit worse than I expected and WoFF which is a lot better than I expected.

I little hard to really judge a game through YT. Most games are onrail in some form.

Vivster, the breaking when climbing at least on UC4 is absolute BS, it isn't nearly as often as you are saying.

Except a lot also really enjoyed FF XIII and not only because of the cinematics. The "restrictions" of FF XIII wasn't much higher than I was used on previous FF and actually I even preffer like that, I hate games that make me go from X to Y and back several times just as a excuse for exploration and being open world. I can't bother with the likes of GTA.

Overwatch is my game of the year so far.

Uncharted 4 was my most hype game of the year, but I was let down hard after playing it. I have the Platinums for the previous four Uncharted games, but I couldn't tolerate a second playthrough to get this Plat, was bored out of my mind.

I see a lot of people saying "my goty, my goty" but which game do you guys think will actually be the GOTY?
Overwatch is the only thing else released this year that can even compete with Uncharted 4 for the GOTYs, but I don't think it'll get nearly as much to be honest.

I think Overwatch has a good chance. These industry awards are all so silly though. Did you see the Golden Joystick nominations? It's all a big joke.

The Witness is my GOTY. I so loved that game.

We'll see if The Last Guardian beats it. But I still haven't played many great games released this year that I'd like to play like Titanfall 2 main campaign, Inside, or Rez infinite.

I disagree.

The game has poor pacing, a long-drawn out story that could've ended much sooner, and a (failed) attempt at trying to making the game more open world IMO. I think Uncharted 4 went a bit too far away from what made UC2 great, a fun, linear, action-packed, lighthearted summer-action-movie-like flick. They tried too hard to pull influences from TLOU (another game I have platnum for) in this, which IMO ruined it.

I have platinum trophies for UC2 and UC3, but I haven't even completed my first playthrough of UC4 yet (bought the game at launch).

I think that's spot on. When Uncharted 4 actually hands control over to players and let's them shoot it up with bad guys the game is great. When it wrests back control and forces you to watch, it sputters.

As far as a 'videogame' goes, I would have to say no. But I haven't even played it as I don't buy playstations - and it doesn't make me want to go out and get one. This year I've really enjoyed Gears 4 and Battlefield 1 so I think my vote goes with either of those two. Titanfall 2 is a worthy competitor too though, although its multiplayer isn't as good as it's first.

GOTY 2016 will be found between these 7 games imo (of course I can't know for sure whether FFXV has GOTY potential).

Uncharted 4
Dark Souls 3
Forza Horizon 3
Final Fantasy XV
DOOM
Overwatch
Inside

I think Uncharted 4 will win the most GOTYs. Personally, I enjoyed Rise of the Tomb Raider more but that's a 2015 game.
