Forums - Nintendo - I see no sense in Nintendo Switch, it`s a terrible idea

That's all your opinion.  I have a Wii U along with lots of games and I love it.  My favorite feature are the local multiplayer games that can be played two player without split screen.  As for the Switch, just because you don't like it doesn’t mean it's a bad idea.  Again, that's you opinion and not one shared by most of the people who have had the privilege to work with them.  I think it’s a great idea to be able to seamlessly go from home console to portable is fantastic.  Just because it’s not a feature that you’d use doesn’t mean others wont.

My question is why do you feel compelled to spend your time complaining about something you’ll probably not even buy.  The amount of hate in this world is mind boggling.  Your time would be much better spent on more positive things.

Yet didn't you JUST make a post about complaining about consoles in another thread?  And I quote "in the end, console are little more than "toys".

That said - I am going to actually wait for the switch to release before having an opinion on it. Price point, battery life, and early games are all very important.

Consoles are nothing more than just toys.  That doesn't mean people of all ages can't enjoy them, I do, but why get so worked up over them?!?

Stop hating and start playing.

Great games and experiences need a great hardware. AI, in-game physics, visuals ( yes, they do matter), smoothness, connectivity and others requires hardware to be able to exist. The evolution of games isn`t just about visuals, experience wise whitout more hardware juice isn`t impossible to improve too. Imagine if we still had NES hardware, many entire genres would be impossible. Hardwares does matter, this is what Nintendo don`t see to realize.

I would like to hear how gaming as a whole evolved from last generation to current generation. What kind of new experiences did we get?

With the Wii U we got the use of touch screen in our console games (Scribblenauts was big in my house) and the ablitly to play our console games off TV.  We also got to play many of our local two play games without the use of split screen (which I loved).  The PS4/Box One (which I've owned or still own) gave better graphics and little else.  In the past year, I've played multiple times more on my gaming computer and Wii U than the PS4/Xbox One combined.  There's just nothing much new there.

Like FF XIV, No Man`s Sky, The Witcher III and Final Fantasy XV only were possible because of a strong hardware. Hardware brings graphics, but it also bring AI, Physics, Real Time Weather, Massive Multiplayer, Virtual Reality, Procedural Generation...

It's a bad idea just like Wii U was. It's not that hard to make a classic home console, since Wii they always have to come up with weird stuff just because Wii was a success, so im happy if they flop again, maybe it's the only way they'll learn.

Or its great idea like Wii was. Of Course it's not hard to make classic home console, but do we really needs 3 identical home consoles on market or its better that each offer something difrent!? To learn what exactly, that's is better to do exactly same thing like others are doing than to try to do and offer something different than others!?

Nintendo like to be creative with their consoles and create new ways of playing games, always have and always will.

Mainstream gamers, unfortunately, only want typical home consoles because that is all they are used to.

In my opinion the Switch is a great idea as the successor to the 3DS but yeah for it to be better than the Wii U it needs more power and 3rd party.

I feel developers will treat it more as a home console considering it will have a good conventional controller. But I guess with the big three now, they feel instead of the same console across the board they have to do something different.

Once again OP, what kind of innovation that it is a good idea would you like to see from Nintendo?

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

Well, the Wii U was a terrible idea, but I can't wait to get my hands on a Switch! This is the sort of thing I have wanted Nintendo to release years ago.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

OP - I understand where you're coming from, being a nintendo fan can be very frustrating and some times you think wouldn't be amazing if they just built a high spec home console? With their first party library and a full complement of third party games they could dominate the market.

But i think you have a fundamental misunderstanding of technological trends. Trends are often new innovations based on technological advancements and societal changes. It doesn't just mean more realistic graphics. Gaming would be pretty boring, for me at least, if that was the case. That's why I'm always excited by a new concept whatever the commercial outcome.
