OP - I understand where you're coming from, being a nintendo fan can be very frustrating and some times you think wouldn't be amazing if they just built a high spec home console? With their first party library and a full complement of third party games they could dominate the market.
But i think you have a fundamental misunderstanding of technological trends. Trends are often new innovations based on technological advancements and societal changes. It doesn't just mean more realistic graphics. Gaming would be pretty boring, for me at least, if that was the case. That's why I'm always excited by a new concept whatever the commercial outcome.
