Dynamite Cop as guessed by Player2

The game is the sequel to an arcade game that used the license for the 'Die Hard' franchise outside of Japan but didn't use it itself. It is also awesome, mindless fun. 'Dynamite Cop' is a so-called beat-em-up, where you play through several levels in a linear fashion beating up everything in sight. These games are usually quite short, as is this one, but it has several different 'paths' to take to the end boss depending on the character you choose, which adds replay value.

What makes the game good is that you can literally use anything that isn't bolted to the floor, as a weapon. Whether it be a simple chair, a barbell or even a hooked piece of meat in the kitchen. There's weapons too, from knives to anti-tank weapons, and things can be set on fire using a lighter. Each path also has their own mini-bosses.

The throwaway story follows a special forces unit trying to rescue the daughter of the president from modern-day pirates onboard a luxury cruise liner. The levels take the player all over the ship, from the engine room to the kitchen to the decks and crew quarters, culminating in the final stage on the bridge where the pirate captain is the end-boss. All this doesn't matter, it's just fun to whack digital people in the face with all kinds of things!

Ah Dynamite Cop. I feel like playing it right now... but I don't feel like digging up my Dreamcast.

#43: The protagonist's brother has framed himself in exactly the same sketchy situation as in this game's predecessor.

Game 44 - VVVVVV

I believe this was my first indy game from the 8th gen. A super short, super fun odd platformer. You don't jump, you flip gravity. Like I said before, I love challenges, and getting some collectibles in this game, and a few levels, is quite difficult. It gets very creative and uses some mechanics that I would have never thought about, although it's not higher because I feel it could have gone deeper. The ending is a little weird, but finishing the game feels pretty satisfying. It also has a pretty cool side mode after you beat the game.

Hint #43: One of the many spin-offs from this franchise. Released last gen, and it involves feet.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Not that anyone seems to care, but here are more hints:

42: Pretty much THE shooter during the Xbox 360's glory days (and people will probably call me a fake gamer for even having a game from this series being in my list)

41: The elementary school kid's equivalent of crack during 2005 and 2006.

40: You can do your daily job as instructed no problem, keeping your family warm and healthy, but if you break your boundaries, you'll be opening some cans of worms, including involvement with terrorists.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."
