What is a roguelike game?

Looks... interesting menu based combat you say... i may have to get this... though that would push back my getting a PS3 for Valkrie and Prototype. Prototype will be on PC too... but Valkrie won't be anywhere else.

I can't for this to come out next week. I loved the PS1 game and I it looks like this game improves on it. Plus $39.99 is a great price.
