Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo Japan confirms: Wii U production ending soon

Kotaku are reporting that Nintendo of Japan have confirmed Wii U production is winding up soon.

Translations of an announcement added to Nintendo's Japanese home page confirm that Wii U production (which Eurogamer suggested was ending last week) will end soon. That should leave Wii U lifetime shipments at the 13.5 million mark, once Nintendo have shipped the 240k remaining in this current financial year.

Wii U will therefore definitely go down in history as Nintendo's least successful home console.

Wii hardly knew U.

EDIT: I should clarify this refers to Japan only.

Here we go again!

So why'd they lie then? I guess it wasn't confirmed until THEY said it. I'm glad. Time for a new era. Hopefully, a more glorious era for Nintendo.

Techinically they didn't lie. They denied Eurogamer's report which stated that production would have ended by the end of last week. Nintendo are saying that Wii U production is ending soon in Japan at least.

Expected..

honestly the console deserved the sales its got. it had over priced hardware, out dated specs, a horrible game, epic game droughts and meager support over all. the sales it got reflect just how bad a console it was.

For real this time?

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

Good, hopefully it and the games become expensive especially since Switch lacks backwards compatibility. I expect to be able to sell TMS for $200 in a couple years. =)
