I never got too into this election but would have voted hillary. Guess we better prepare for a trump victory now. Personally I don't think it will be as bad as people think. Especially with him all buddy buddy with the Russians.

Yeah, I guess so. As a democrat I did agree with 2 things trump said and they're very important to America's growth. Immigration and trade. That's what has killed the United states. But, it's how it gets done that matters. Will he close the loopholes that he takes advantage of for his businesses? No, he wont. And he won't do that to his "buddies" either. America is about to go to shit, real quick.

Also, to toss into this discusion, the "military industrial complex" is not the main drive of the government's massive spending.  I know this is unpopular, no one wants to hear it, and no President would ever say, but entitlements are the biggest driver, taking up well over half of our budget, around 60% if my math is right.  Military spending is like almost as low as 1/8 of the total spending, and that's with us at war.

But military spending is what could be cut the easiest the US spends more on the military then the next 10 countries combined.

Well the size of our country and the number of obligations we have is part of that.  I mean, for better or worse, we are expected to be the "tip of the spear" for NATO and often the UN.  I don't like that, but that's the way it is.

And yes, I agree it should be reduced.  However, if you cut it by 50%, that only reduces it by 250 billion.  That's not going to stop the bleeding, only slow it a little bit.  The reality is, there is no quick fix and people need to stop looking for one.  The reality is we need a long term reevaluation of all our programs, especially entitlements, and start adjusting those.  There are people right now taking entitlements from the government while being perfectly capable of living independent of them but the gov is horrible at keeping track of that.  And there are other problems.  The reality is, we need a large scale restructuring of our spending and that's going to take a lot longer than people think.  People want the bleeding to stop in 2 years of a presidency, but that's impossible.  We need patience and firm direction locked in.

Mfw Americans are expecting the result to matter much.

Trump gets to nominate Supreme Court. He has a full GOP house and senate. He can do whatever he wants.

Also supreme court works for life. Have any friends who happen to love those in the same gender? Who are born without identifying their gender? Say goodbye to their rights for the next 50 years.

You really think Putin is not laughing his ass off right now?

Of course he is.  finally a president that wants to be buddies with him rather than enemies.  he'll be delighted.

Well the loopholes he uses most are the carry forward losses rules, that's not a bad thing really.  What needs to happen is the bad loopholes to close, yeah, but the international tax rate has got to go away.  The international tax rate is outdate and asinine and actively encourages companies to keep money out.  It has got to go.  If Trump does that, it would be a good step.  It will just be a question of if he can even get that done cause even with a Republican Congress, such a move would definitely buck establishment and we all know how DC feels about that.

He's already preparing to take over the rest of eastern Europe because Trump won't give a shit.

I look forward to white folks looking down on me like I'm a second class citizen again. Looking forward to the segregation laws.
