Forums - Gaming - Why is UC4 considered a better game than Rise of the Tomb Raider?

TR 2013 was like the sequel to Uncharted 1 I always wanted. Seemed like such a natural next step for Uncharted, but instead they fully embraced the cinematic side and the franchise became dumbed down cycles of set pieces with controlled encounters and interaction. Which is fine, but I prefer a more open approach.

But some don't, some enjoy the ride they are taken on and that's fine. But that's your answer, opinions.

That's a big label. How do you reason?

It's in my opinion the game of the generation.  and I believe the reviews also put it as the best if not one of the best.

Me neither, it was difficult enough on Normal for me. I don't usually like awfully hard experiences in gaming, except for the Dark Souls franchise,. Which, kill me, would beneffit itself with an easy mode, but that's a story for another thread xD.

Making an easy mode on dark souls is blasphemy. It's not for gamers who cannot handle hard difficulties or higher. Its supposed to test your willpower

I don't think so, playing on easy could be a blasphemy, but as long as they keep a very difficult option then it's okay

Uncharted 4 is the game of the generation. TR is just unlucky it got pitted up against that. Personally I don't mind it's not as good. As a PS4 owner I get to play both, and if I choose the ps4 pro version too.

You are wrong, TLOU is the game of two and half generations

they both are bad. too cinematic, jumping is failproof. its almost like those old adventure games where u just click a button everything happens automatically. my 3y old babyhippo can do that!

Failproof, seems like you haven't played it through

Tomb Raider has a lot of elements borrowed from UC2, like the "OH MY GOD SOMETHING IN THE ENVIRONMENT BROKE/GOT DESTROYED/FELL JUST WHEN YOU GOT NEAR IT AND YOU ALMOST DIED", except that Tomb Raider does it 15 times in the same sequence, which I find fucking ridiculous. That's why I didn't bother to finish it, Tomb Raider 2013 was fun in its way, RotTR on the other hand... :/

So that wasn't done in the Prince of Persia trilogy?

Now that you say it, it was, but the shift in gameplay for Tomb Raider came after UC2 so that's where my thought process comes from, but you're right. (Btw, you just made me want to replay the PoP games, even the Warrior Within).

Oh and I forgot to mention that Tomb Raider does very questionnable things, like when Lara climbs something and it's too high for her, she pushes herself up and then uses the wall to JUMP higher.... Please, it's on the same level of bullshit as Sam Fisher in Splinter Cell Conviction and his overlapping arms when moving left and right on a ledge...

Haha you are right.  TLOU stealing uncharted 4's thunder!

But being second class to TLOU is no small feat and nothing to be ashamed about.

Will we see TLOU on PS5?
