Ubisoft generally supports every console at launch. It's a good strategy.

Guillemot was full of praise for the Wii U as well, developers chime in on new hardware, it's what they do. Ubisoft have a lot to prove to Nintendo fans, after ZombiU didn't do so well, Ubi more or less ditched Nintendo.
Fair is fair, let's give them a chance, but if one is to miss out on one developer, it might as well be Bugsoft, Downgradesoft, Rehashsoft, ExtraNeedlessShitClientSoft or whatever fancy nickname people have for them.

Well they are currently doing better with the Switch then the Wii U. Because by this point in the Wii U life, about 5 months before launch it was already decided that UE4 wouldn't be natively supported and EA had scaled back it unpresidented support, only to later throw their support behind Microsoft with their plans on controlling the software that can and cannot be played on the Xbox One.
