Hum, can you not just put a £5 or £50 deposits to secure it?

That's what I usually do at EBGames/Gamestop when they do not know the final price yet.

who the hell preorders without knowing the price of this thing, or at least specs for that matter? Strike while the hype is high, i suppose

I did. If its too high Ill just cancel it and get my money back.

Damn son, your faith is strong. Hopefully, it's at a reasonable price, I'm thinking $350.

So on what basis will the stores charge you then? Aren't you basically writing them a blank check?

Not really, they shouldn`t charge you anything until they`re going to ship it, by which time you`ll know the price and would have had ample time to cancel if it was too much for you.

Well as the Aussie here who actually knows how EB Aus works its a $50 deposit to secure your Switch (or any preorder console for that matter)
Once it ships you pay the rest. Or if your picking it up in store you pay the rest then, you can cancel at any point though and get your money back.
EB Aus will take preorders for almost anything btw, theyve had Zelda WiiU for preorder since that tech demo was shown befor the WiiU even launched

Not online, maybe in store. I walk to my local tomorrow to find out. My gut tells me they will sell out fast.

Why? Is Europe a weak seller for Nintendo?

Compared to America? Yes.
